Default Bold can't see Chinese characters?

Hi Guys,

Forgive me if I asked the wrong or silly question. I am actually a rookie in Blackberry phones. My iPhone is driving me crazy when I talking over the phone sometimes my face touched the mute buttom, I felt that sucks.

After long waiting, I got this Bold yesterday (22nd of August). I am so happy to turn it on and browse the internet and try to do tasks. But after quite a few efforts I found this Bold doesn't support Chinese character !

I can't see my contact's name in Chinese character where I synced with my laptop and I can see the Chinese character on the website like sina

I think it must be my mistake of having not turn on the language support, however, I checked all the options, looks like as if there is no where I can add a language at all?

I tried to use the DM, however nothing show up as adding a language.

I couldn't believe what I got yesterday, it is now August 2008, RIM is producing a phone for 3 yrs without international language support?

Please help me, the rookie for BB out, all of your comments and helps are most welcome.

Hey franco, you might want to keep an eye on

go here and check out pccw and others in the asian pacific section.. you'll have to use their OS as I'm sure it'll be packaged.

BlackBerry - BlackBerry Desktop and Device Software Download Sites

read the tutorials on how to use other providers os..

I loaded the PCCW one and it only listed Traditional display but has all the pinyin types for input.. but strange thing is some of my music that is in simplified is displaying correctly..so maybe they included it in their traditional font list.
I had to use update applications to add the new languages as I was the latest firmware already/

Thanks a million MauK, I was so mad to see Bold doesn't support Chinese characters, in a world like iPhone and all other hand helds had no problem with browsing the webpages in Chinese.

I downloaded the latest CSL 9000 package and even mad to learn there is nothing supporting the Chinese character (simp or traditional).

The version I downloaded from CSL is the latest 4.6.0.126 !

Yup grab the PCCW ver.. install it and delete the vendor.xml

you then update applications and select advanced. Make sure you go through all the list as you will have one set with english and stuff and then one with korean and then chinese traditional font. then there is I think two different sets of input languages.. the one after scrolling down will have all different types of pinyin..
