8GB Micro SD card: SanDisk vs Kingston

I have had both (in various shapes and sizes over the years) and had no problems with either. I typically just buy the cheapest one between them.

Kingston & SanDisk are the names I would buy, both are have similar Specs/Class 4 microSDHC. Canada Computers said there's no difference.

I got my Kingston for $25.99 and the SanDisk cost $38.99. If they didn't have Kingston, I would've picked up the SanDisk because I'm the type who prefers Major Brand Name. The others are A-Data, Kingmax, Patriot.

is there any point in buying the card reader? i've never bought something like this before. seems like it it's in your BB, you could just use your BB and desktop manager as a "reader".

it seems like it would make sense to have a reader if you have a bunch of cards laying around.

i just have my 16gb in my phone. i dont use a reader

A week ago, I installed a Kingston 8GB Micro SDHC (Class 4) and it's been working just fine in my Bold 9000. To have a backup and additional capacity for movies, videos, music, etc. I just ordered the Transcend 8GB (Class 6). It will certainly be a bit quicker and I'll post any findings once the card arrives later this week.

Plus as there are chip storage pockets build in the case I use for the Bold, it's easy to store and keep a couple of extra chips at the ready.

Come to think of it, at this price point for the 8GB (class 6) cards it may be quite a few months before the 16GB or 32GB cards get any where near this price! Even for two 8GB cards.

I've been looking to bye a new flash card and cannot seem to find any 16GB micro SD cards only SDHC, do these work in the bold as I've read on one website that the two formats are not compatible with each other, ie if your device uses SD it won't read SDHC.

Is this true and if so does anyone know where to purchase SD cards?

I have an A Data 8GB SDHC in mine right now, works great.

I have used Sandisk and Kingston in the past with no issue. It turns out that the last few cards I have owned for various uses have been A Data, and again, they have worked great. As mentioned above, Newegg is a good resource for this type of stuff.
