Default transferring tmo contract

I want to leave tmo 2.5 months early to rejoin my family on a vz plan now that vz owns alltel. I called tmo & they said I could transfer my plan to someone who wanted to add a line to their exisiting tmo service. I have a friend who will let me do that (I will pay them up front.).

My question is, does that line only need to be maintained until my original contract end date?

THANKS!

It's called a change of responsibility and once the contract on that line runs out it's free and clear to be canceled without any penalty.

Excellent. Thanks.

Do you know how smooth the process is if I want to port my #, then transfer the responsibility? Also, I don't think my friend will be using the line (meaning, never put the sim in a phone). Will that be a problem?

you CANNOT port your number and do billing responsibility change. once your port out your number, you line with T-Mobile will be cancelled, which you will be liable for etf since you still have 2 and a half month left on your contract.

the rep i talked to on the phone said i could keep my # & still transfer responsibility. guess i will need to ask again. i do not want the hassle of changing my #.
