Default gps with 8900

I just got back from my tMobile corporate store without my 8900 i really wanted. The sales guy is telling me that the only thing that can access the gps is telenav at $10 a month. is he right i don't think he is. google and bb maps should be able to use it. tMobile has always seemed to not neuter phone hardware.

Not true... I have Google Maps loaded and working just fine... I have not used Telenav at all and just hid that icon. The GPS works just fine.

Thank you.
That is what I thought too he is just trying to sell me more than I need. I don't have to have audio turn by turn directions, I just want to know exactly were I am some times to find a different way around traffic.
wi-fi and free gps are the main things I want in this phone.

You have bbmaps and google which are both free. Plus telenav has a trail period. Plus there are other pay to use gps app not only telenav.

There's other free GPS apps as well. I haven't tried them yet but I hear they're pretty good, especially for free.

Google maps does use the GPS. You don't need to purchase and extra navigation software. I got my 8900 today and I'm loving it.

Nav4all is a free audible turn x turn GPS app and it works on the 89. The UI is not as nice as some of the premium GSP apps but it's ok and FREE!

Default google maps

I've been using telnav for over a year and it workds great. Is google maps similar, and what is the cost compared to telnav ($10.00 a month). How do you down load google maps

Thanks

AmAze works on the 8900 and its free. Compares well with nav4all but the user interface is a little better.

There are a variety of apps you can use the GPS on. The guy probably wanted extra commission. Some reps are like that, but don't take that rotten apple and allow it to spoil the bunch of fantastic other apples in the TMO tree.
