So yeah I just ordered my 8900 last night, and I was forced to get FlexPay since I'm 19 and have zero credit.

Anyone care to share what I just got myself into? Besides outsourced customer support, is it really that bad?

I have had good luck with their customer support in the past, just the service in my area is subpar to verizon, so i chose to go with verizon instead.

^Flexpay is the calling plan with the add on features and you pay month to month with no contract or you can sign a 1 year deal to get a phone @ the one year price.

Boy, TMO has changed. I remember when I was 17 and signed a contract on my own, having no credit. People must have screwed up a lot since then (I'm almost 23 now - old bag lol)

OP - there are a couple plusses to this. 1.) If you decide that you hate TMO, you're not in a super long contract with them. 2.) (I could be wrong, but this was how it was for me) This can build your credit if you pay ON TIME each month for the year contract. 3.) If you decide you like TMO and your year is up, you can go to a kiosk/store in the mall / strip mall and ask to sign with them for two years.

Really, truthfully, you'll like TMO if you haven't already had it. It's not crazy bad like other carriers.

I signed up for a flex pay account because I wanted to leave whenever I wanted, if I wanted. Been with them for over a year now, and have never had any issues with customer service. I like the freedom of being able to switch carries if I want, but T-Mo has kept me happy, and thus far I really don't see a reason or ened to switch.

Just went through it with them on the phone. Grr. FlexPay cancels the 10% discount I would be getting.

Flex pay is for the credit challenged. There is no deposit so its better then paying 250 to 500 to any other carrier. Just keep in mind a few things. 1st, if you want to make any changes do it TWO days before your payment is due. 2nd, Flex pay is a system that is continually evolving... try not to kill your dealer if they don't have all the answers.

Flex pay is not a bad thing. It is also not JUST for people with little/no/bad credit. It is helpful for people who don't want to sign a contract. It is helpful for people who can't control themselves and rack up huge cell phone bills. I think it will work fine for you. And I have always found T-mobile CS to be extremely nice and helpful.
