Default AT&T registered phone won't let me use email

Hi to all: (I Live in Panama - Central america)

I bought a BB Bold 9000 from ebay, barely used and came with the unlock code which I used and got the phone unlocked nice,

I went to my carrier and open a new account for my BB and everything ok till here, got my number, the BB messenger working fine and my data plan as well; butttttttt when i try to use the email wizard setup, I input the PIN and IMEI and it keeps me telling that its already registered!

i keep receiving mails from 3 different accounts (comcast.net, holmeshouse.com etc) I asume from the previous owner, I did a complete reflash (wiped out all) in my phone and as soon I put the SIM again got the emails coming in;

I'm not in the USA, but how can I get those mails out of the phone and use my push mails normally, because I can not set up any of my accounts!

I called ATT&T and they asked for my phone number, but i told them I'm not a att&t user, but i need the phone to be released somehow! and they said they can not help!

please advice what to do!

regards,

Gabriel

The previous owner will need to release the PIN number from his/her account. If they don't you won't be able to register it with your carrier's BIS.

the problem is I DON'T know who is the previous owner!
i bought it from an ebay company,

things I have:
the phone is unlocked so my carrier sim card works perfect.
PIN I have it!
IMEI I have it!
and I also have the previous owner PASSWORD for AT&T

but I do not know the username!

is there any way to get this? and at list delete the emails
on the server and keep them out from reaching my phone!

thanks again!

I wish I could contact the previous owner but it's not possible!

I tried and the mails i sent keep showing in my celphone!
Looks like the previous owner is not using those email accounts!

i seems very strange,
i sent an email to the seller company in ebay
but no answer yet!

It's a shame the previous owner even included the unlock code
handwritten by him, don't know how he did not think about the emails!

this really pisses me off!

thanks to everyone for their suggestions!

hopefully when you purchased the phone you used paypal. if so, file a dispute which may have the seller contact you. it's worth a try. what have you got to lose?

Is there a "forgot username or password" link? If so try clicking it. It may email it to your device.

You may also want to try and log into the att bis site using the PIN as the username with the supplied password. You can then delete the email accounts and set the PIN to 0 which from what I read will release it . Dont know if this will work or not but its worth a try.

thanks,

I already try using the PIN number
the att site just gives me the option to "forgot password"
I hope there was a forgot username!

I'll keep trying with the names that comes in the mails.

In the past, people have called their provider and asked to speak whichever department handles the BB data. Then explain to them that they need to contact RIM to release the PIN as you are getting the previous owner's email and it is a security issue. The security part usually gets RIM to act.

yesterday I talked to a person from my Carrier and told me he can't do anything, the other thing is that I called AT&T yesterday and talked for about 30 minutes without luck, the lady kept telling me to give her the previous owner last 4 digits of the security number after even telling her it was a phone puchased internationally in EBAY....

when I closed the phone i was even more dissapointed than before calling AT&T; what a crappy service!

All I need is the USERNAME!
I don't mind keeping the PIN under the BIS from ATT but all I want is to
be able to receive my mails on the phone instead the previous owner mails

thanks for reading; i just got my stress out!!!!
