Default 8830 noise cancelling not, background amplified

Is anyone else having issues with phone audio. It appears the phone is amplifying background noise and muffling your own voice. ie; restaurants, driving etc.
My callers are are complaining they have a difficult time hearing me and my voice seems to be cutting in and out , dependent on background noise. Seems to be the exact opposite effect it should be.
I have tried different settings like enable and disabling advanced audio etc.
I also use a Parrot in car handsfree, and it also still reacts the same. I have picked up a replacement phone and the second unit has the same issue, so it must be the mike or software..
This is my third blackberry. Used the 7100i with no problems.

I'm having issues with people hearing me on speakerphone and I could be in a silent room and I'm having to talk loudly for them to hear me with the phone two feet or less away from my mouth. They keep complaining all they hear is echos. WTF?

I am sure this is an major issue with this phone. none of my other phones have had this problem. My blackberry is strictly for business and I am having to call from a very quiet area to try and keep my customers from hanging up. On a construction site or whatever, not a chance............
I will need to bring it back for good if Rim does not fix this

People keep telling me that I sound fuzzy unless I hold my BB about an inch away from my face. Very strange.

If you are a blue tooth user, than try the Plantronics Voyager 510. Prior to the jawbone coming out, it has been the only bluetooth with a noise canceling mic that works. It really works, I sell them to truck driver's and construction workers.

Default Amplified background noise

I am totally surprised there are so few complaints on this issue to date. Semi noisy restaurants, background conversations etc seem to be the worst. My callers keep asking me to repeat and speak up to overcome the amplified background conversations. From a quiet area, its an awesome phone.......other then the odd echo!
My dealer called yesterday and offered to swap out for a third unit.......maybe third time lucky if it is indeed a hardware issue.

Save yourself the trouble of getting a new phone. I'm on my third (for other reasons) but they all have terrible background noise. I just hope this is something they can fix through a software update and not something wrong with the actual mic.

I use a bluetooth headset now whenever I really care about call quality.

Default Possible resolution

I have the same problem. I found this on the Blackberry forums. Don't know if it works because I haven't tried it yet. However, some were saying that it did.

======Excerpt from other forum=====
It's under phone options. Push the BB/menu key while in the phone app and select 'options' then 'enhanced audio'. There is a setting called 'automatic volume control'. I have no idea if this has any effect on the microphone. I always assumed that it had more to do with the earpiece volume, but it's worth a try.
=====End of Excerpt=====

Hope this helps.

I bought a JawBone thinking that would correct the audio problems I too am experiencing with my 8830. However, I find the JawBone to be one of the worst BT headsets I've ever bought. For me, I think the problem lies in the fact that it HAS to be resting on your jawbone, otherwise it does not sense the vibrations. I have it pressed so hard on my jawbone that it almost hurts, but all I get is way too much static, and EVERY person I talk to, tells me I sound like I'm talking out of a toilet bowl.

I think I will look for an alternative BT Headset, with a decent boom mic, that has noise cancelling properties built into the mic, and one that does not so positionally dependant. Any recommendations from Members who are having positive BT headset experiences with their 8830's?
