I just bought one off Amazon. They said it would work in my off the shelf 8830, which it does not. I cant even get it to physically fit and lock into the slot.
I've got a 8830 and have a fully functional Sandisk 8GB SDHC card working in it. Yes, I'm running 4.5 and the card works without a hitch and the OS reocognizes the full 8GB. You need 4.3+ to recognize 8GB.

The size and dimensions are identical to the 2GB micro SD card it replaced. If you can't get it to fit, they may have sent you the wrong card.

Hi again,

So I got everything downloaded... The new 4.5 Desktop and I found the 4.5.0.66 for the 8830...

Followed the 101 instructions, deleted the vendor file, etc. etc.

After I run the OS file (ie. walk through the wizard and all that) and open the desktop software, nothing happens. It doesnt recogize the OS file or any other updates...

Should I keep searching and find a different OS file to download, or did I screw something up along the way?

Quoting

"1. Make sure you have the latest version of Desktop Manager installed.
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 45 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the devic
"

there ya go

Okay, so now im running .51 adfter following 101 directions and help from Asianinvasioniv (thanks again bretheren).

I changed the theme back to the original Verizon one, and switched to smaller text (larger text makes the menus look huge).

I'm still not getting any HTML on email or webpages. Youtube.com looked fine and worked great, but when I go to crackberry.com, it looks nothing like the screenshots earlier in this post.

For example, when I zoom in, the "ringtone" tab is an empty box with a little Blackberry looking icon and the file name next to it. This means HTML isnt working, right? I have "Support HTML Tables" checked in the Browser Configuration. I tired clicking "Use Background Images," but that just makes everything look all messed up and overlapped.

Also, there is no option for HTML under Email Settings...

Any advice?

Resend service books, it's helped solve countless of these issues from what I have read...

If you're on BES tell your IT guy to resend the service books, it's a right click operation on the BES.
If you're on BIS you need to do it through your carriers' BIS site.

Done... still having trouble. Some pages arent loading correctly (or some at all).

Should I have "Support Java Script" enabled?

Its also automatically going to Column view every time...
