Best way to do this is to do search for how upgrade a Blackberry.

You will need a copy of the new OS and the desktop manager installed on a PC. MACs will not work.

OS= Operating system

You can get desktop manager here
BlackBerry - BlackBerry Desktop Software - BlackBerry Software at BlackBerry.com

Newest OS:
BlackBerry - BlackBerry Device Software

You'll be on version 4.5

Yes, I would install your desktop manager to your PC
Chances are upon installing your desktop manager (DM) to your pc and connecting your BlackBerry it will notify you of an upgrade. Follow it's steps and you'll be set:-)

If it doesn't, simply click on "check for upgrades"

There are other ways of doing this, but try this one out first. If this doesn't work out, they're are tutorials on how to install a new OS

Have you connected your BB to your PC via the USB cable and ran desktop manager?

Now that you have downloaded it, run the program to install BlackBerry Desktop Manager and your USB port software.

Step two, download the software for the device OS.

Research in Motion is a little tricky to navigate, highlight the correct device then press the Next botton. That will show you the choices available.

The one you want is v4.5xx, there will be a download link under the description.

Hey qnzthg89, welcome to crackberry!

From what I can tell, you really are a newbie (), so you have come to the right place.

However, before you dive into the deep end, I would advise that you get used to the water in the shallow end. By this I mean that you should take some time out to read through some tutorials regarding the phone, the associated software (both device software and desktop manager software), and also get familiar with update procedures. There are a lot of threads in these forums dealing with these topics. Go ahead, try a search.

I can assure you that you will save yourself a lot of time and frustration by heeding to this friendly advice.

Good luck!
