| | New memory eye app!
well guys mike240se has done it again!
his new memory eye app is out and is amazing, it is an app that allows you to set a threshold limit for your memory and if your available memory drops below that limit you are instantly notified and given the option to reset your threshold if you want to lower it. it is a great app for those with memory ocd like myself it gives you the option to keep an eye on your memory, it is also great for those who are testing new apps to see if they are memory hogs you can set it a bit below your regular usage and run the new app if it drops quickly or far then you can know you just bagged yourself a memory hog. it also allows you to set a vibrate alert when the dialog box pops up with a changeable led color notifier. i was one of the beta testers for the curve and the app works exactly as described! this thing is amazing! it does not cause any lag and notification is very quick!

lol yeah yester, I had done all the testing with people on the storm for a week, then I wanted to make sure the non-storm version worked as it did in the simulator and as on the storm. Now that I have you guys on my beta testing team, I will have you guys testing from the begining on my next app (and on the next release of Memory Eye)
thanks for all the positive feedback everyone.

Sorry to break it to you all, this is a completely unnecessary and
useless app.
Clear the junk from your phone, do a bit of basic housekeeping and
you will never have to worry about memory. I have 25+ apps and
26mb free. I have not done a reset of any kind in over 100 days.
Stuff like this exist because people keep passing on bad info
regarding memory and using term like "memory leak"
Your phones will function the same at 26mb as it does at 12mb
as it does at 2mb.
Add to that, the newer devices, starting with the 8330, all have
upgraded memory and this becomes even less necessary.

i have one of the "newer" devices you speak of and have found my memory under 10mb many many times. my phone starts to run terrible, i do a batt pull and then find my old calendar entries are gone and my call log is half the size it was before. so even someone like yourself who doesnt believe free memory is important or doesnt think its an issue can make good use of this app, you can set it to 10mb and make sure you do a batt pull before you start losing old information. it was just posted on the front page of bb cool today that the lack of memory causes old information to be lost, so you dont have to take my word for it: How to stop your BlackBerry from clearing messages | BlackBerry Cool
plus many apps have memory leaks, some themes too. so when you install an app, you will get an alert from memory eye if your memory stops dropping, and this way you dont have to keep watching it.

It's also an issue known to RIM, there are a lot of support related to this on RIM's site. This app is totally useful!!! It happens once to you and you will never ever let it happen again, when the phone erases your call logs, your important messages and calendar entries...trust me!!!

you do not entirely understand how the BlackBerry functions. Quote: |

| Reread my comment about basic housekeeping and deleting the unneeded
crap from your phone. Most of these issues have to do with users thinking
they can keep a kajillion emails, text messages, call log entries, and every
friggin calendar entry they ever made.
The BlackBerry has a Garbage Collector. If you don't police your device the
GC will do it for you. Guess which method you are going to like the least Quote: | so even someone like yourself who doesnt believe free memory is important or doesnt think its an issue can make good use of this app,
| Keep dreaming grasshopper. I wouldn't put this on my phone to win a bet.
My criteria for an app is that it be useful. This certainly isn't. Quote: |

| 25+ apps I never look at my memory unless someone brings it up. 100+ days
without a reset and I have lost NOTHING. I'll keep doing it my way and leave
your app to the foolish people who think it will make an ounce of difference.
Sadly, it will not. And if you knew what you were doing you would already
know that.
