Default Error: Uncaught Exception

I keep running into a problem with my blackberry 8330. Whenever I hit the END key more than once rapidly and then i hit the SEND key I get an ERROR that says: UNCAUGHT EXCEPTION: java.lang.NullPointerException . Although there is an option for me to click my trackball and just say OK, but it won't go away. I can hit the SEND key and the error will still be up at the same time my call log comes up in back of the error screen, if that makes sense.

If anyone has ran into this problem, please let me know how to fix it because as of right now everytime I get that error I just take out the battery and restart my phone because that is the only thing that I can do.

Help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Just go into your device options and scroll up to then select "Advanced options" once in advanced options you will see at the top of the list "Applications" select applications then your device will build a list of all the applications loaded and what version you’re running.

The application Icon could be hidden but it does not means it’s not on the BB

I've been having the same problem since I upgraded to 4.5.0.97, and I do not have eOffice. The only solution I've found to deal with it is to reset.

I checked out my applications and eOffice is not there!

Are there any other solutions out there? It is a really annoying problem. My next solution might be to go to verizon and see what they can do!

Please post any info about the error. Thanks.

This is almost always caused by a 3rd party application failing. eOffice was a good guess but it could be any app that you, or someone else, has installed. You will have to got through each of your apps (Options, Advanced Options, Applications) one at a time - don;t delete the RIM apps - and delete them one at a time and then reboot (Alt-RightShift-Del) after each one if this is not done automatically. It is a tedious process at best but it's really the only way.

If this procedure does not cure your problem then you will have to reinstall your phone's Operating System. So if after you have removed any self installed apps and the problem is still there, check your warranty to see if you can get an exchange before you embark on an OS upgrade.

I had problems with that same error due to an older version of Google Sync. If you're running Sync attempt to reinstall from their site-if you have an older version it will ask you to upgrade. You can also disable syncing contacts. Contact sync causing that error is a known issue

I am going to go ahead and try the Google Sync option if that does not work then I will proceed to do the application deletion + restarting my handheld.

Thank you very much for your help.

I am open to more option.

Have you tried the same key presses with a brief pause?

Your idea of rapidly could be conditioned by video games and be very fast.

If you do reinstall your OS, I recommend crackmem. It does a good job of installing the same OS. Download, install, then read the help file for directions.

Any luck, ZBZ? Let us know. Any time a step helps resolve an issue, having results posted in a thread like this helps those who search later.

Since I have deleted the GoogleSync I have not ran into the problem again, but if I do I will make sure to post it on here. As of right now my phone is running smooth.

This problem started for me last night after upgrading to 4.5.0.99. I disabled the contacts sync in Google Sync, as suggested by revwill in post #8, and it seems to have stopped happening. Thanks this was starting to drive me nuts.
