can you set mp3's or shaved down mp3's (like 30 sec parts) of mp3 as ringtones?

Sure can, go to profiles, scroll down to where it says advanced, your profile (the one that says active beside it) click on that, you will then see a list of items for which you can change the tones for ..ie..SMS,MMS etc...highlight the one you wish to change it will then produce another window...you will see where it says "tune" click on that and choose a tone.
