Unhappy Camera and Video Recording Fuctions

Hello All!

I have upgraded to the newest OS for my curve 4.5.0.93. Havent really tried to record any video or take pictured since my first upgrade 4.5.0.55. Since my BDay was this weekend i decided to try it out. I wanted to run two things by everyone just to make sure these quarks i saw were normal or if i should wipe and install 81 again. Alright the first thing is that when i take a picture, it does take the pic, but when i clock the trackball to take the pic the screen turns white for 1-2sec and then it goes back to the picture. Second has anyone else notices that when trying to take video when hitting record it take from 4-7 sec to start recording? Just want to know if anyone else has seen this or is having this issue and if i am just being paraniod. Any comments or help is appreciated by my fellow berryers. Thanks in advance.

FYI - when i upgraded when i was at 81, i did a wipe, installed 4.2 then upgraded to 4.5.0.93. Wondering if i should do a wipe and install 4.5.0.93 or back to 4.5.0.81....

I'd wipe and start again... If you still have the problem, go to .81 since it isn't a beta... I had .81 for a while and it was great

You can't ask about beta firmware. You have to look around yourself.

How long does it take to start recording for video and do you see a white screen when taking a picture, the white screen flashes for 1-2sec.

This is normal. I think the white screen is less than a second, it's just a flash while changing back to camera mode, and the video needs a second to get going. I wouldn't worry about at all.

Make sure you've followed the memory management guide and set your camera to save to your card. Also, since you have upgraded your OS, do your daily memory checks -- clear your cache, empty the event log, run the memory cleaner and do a reset, and you should be fine.

what are the shortcut keys for the event log and wheres the mem cleaner at?

When you say reset u mean reset the device via...turn off....im still pretty new to some parts of the BB.

I did follow How to Increase BlackBerry's File free memory when installing. I like to wipe and install the newest OS instead of just upgrading from OS to OS.

forgot to mention one other quark, when i go to answer a call it takes a while to answer, ending calls takes only a sec. I think i will wipe and install 93 only and then if it still is acting up back to 81 i go unless a non-beta 93 comes out.

That is correct, but we distinguish between carrier supported software, the sticky links at the top of each device topic, and beta testing software that is occasionally available through non-official sources.

Hello all,

I just wanted to post an update. Im on 4.5.0.99 right noe and tried rec a video last night and it started instantly. I was on .102 prior before i found the official .99 release, i didnt try camera or vid on .102, but it seems that a couple bug and/or performance issues were fixed it .99 and .102. I can confirm no issues with .99 which i am currently testing, going on 2 weeks, then i'll install .102 again and test that one.
