| | DM/BES Activation Issue
I'm trying to activate on of my user's BlackBerry and all day using Enterprise Activation I kept getting the server is not responding error. I had her log onto my computer and made sure her Outlook is working and it is, and ran Desktop Manager and go the message: Your email account is not associated with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server. It then asks if I want to use the Desktop Redirector or set it up for a BIS. She is definitely on the BES and everything else looks fine but it just won't activate. Any ideas?

If you go to Settings, Options, Advanced Options, Host Routing Table, is there a bunch of stuff there?
Are there at least 1, or not 2 browsers? Do you see EDGE in caps?
Can you browse the web?
If it never activates, there's a issue with her device receiving data.
If you go to Host Routing Table and there's alot of stuff there, [VERIZON]###### or [Cingular]######
highlight any of them, push the button to the left of the trackball and select Register Now. You'll get a popup that says "Registration Message Sent!"
If it can receive data, look in the Messages list and it'll display the Blackberry message.. if it never arrives, you arent getting RIM infrastructure connectivity.

Yeah registering the HRT's was the first thing I did. I've wiped it twice, registered the HRT's, deleted the service books and registered the HRT's, reprovisioned, sent pin to pin, checked the mailbox size... Only thing I couldn't do is the internet check because the browser icon isn't there, only email settings and there no way to go to other websites from there.

Was this a replacment phone for the user or new activation. If replacement I've had a couple where I've had to remove the user from BES and re add them.

Have you called the carrier to resend the service book?
Also, you can have the carrier send you a pin ping to see if the device gets it.

If you don't have a Browser Icon, the carrier did not provision the device correctly.

Well I tried one of our other BlackBerrys to try and activate her on it and it too failed out so we are guessing it's not the BlackBerry. I've had her mailbox deleted and recreated, her BES account deleted and recreated, and still no activation.
I've sent a message to Sprint to have them send the service books, but I just wiped the device yesterday and went through the typical steps of deleting the service books, registering the host routing tables, and nada.
On the second BB I tried on it had been recently wiped and it too does not have a Browser icon, so is that something that will only pop up after it's activated on the BES?

We don't have sim cards for our BB's, I'm guessing that's a Sprint thing

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com | A BES admin can only push out the Messaging service books. The carriers can push out the data provisioning service books.
if you dont see a Browser icon, either the data plan is incorrect or you need to call Sprint and have their data tech resend the device their service books.

You will also want to make sure the carrier has setup the blackberry for BES. I have had times when we got a blackberry that was setup for BIS instead. I have found sometimes when we get a similar error we are able to activate the blackberry through desktop manager. If you setup the bb for activation on the server and sync the device it should kick off the activation.
What confuses me is why your desktop manager doesn't think she has an account? Is it possible you set her up on BES1, but added bes2 info into desktop manager (or vise versa). Its also possible that the users computer isnt' resolving the name correctly you could try putting in the ip address information instead.
Hopefully one of these suggestions work
