Default BES Help...

I am not a BES admin but need some assistance... I bought my device(8330) in early April and it came with OS 4.3 installed. I was not on BES at that time and performed the official OS 4.5 upgrade from the VZW site BlackBerry® Software Updates During this process it I was asked if the device was used for personal or corporate email. I chose personal at that time, performed the update and all was well.

I was added to BES on Monday of last week and the transition was very smooth and I have all supported functionality from our company. But my BlackBerry Messenger is giving me problems when I perform a battery pull and BBM me my pin has changed(it has not) and I need to send a new request to all of my contacts or I will lose them(it in fact does delete them if I say no).

Content Protection is Enabled and locked on our devices and I assume our company wishes it to remain that way. There are many others with various personal owned devices on our BES but I am either the only one, or one of few with this issue. Below I will outline the steps taken so far with no resolution.

* Resent my BIS Service Books to my device.

* Reinstalled the Official OS 4.5 from the Verizon site BlackBerry® Software Updates chosing Corporate Email.

* Uninstalled and reinstalled BBM from the Desktop Manager at the advice of Verizon help line.

I have searched the forum and found others who appear to have the same issue but have yet to find a resolution or a clear definition of how to fix the issue.

* Am I stuck? Will I have to just live with it?

* Should I take my device to a VZW corporate store for trouble shooting?

* Is this a setting our BES Admin has to change?

* Should I downgrade my OS back to 4.3?

Thank you for your time and you help is much appreciated.

Can you elaborate on the problems you're experiencing with BBM?

The PIN is hardcoded into the device, it cannot be changed. The PIN is how a BES communicates with a Blackberry.. It's used for communications to/from a BES and cannot be changed.

The problem with the BBM comes from the Content Protection being enabled. This has been an issue since 4.5 came out. I had this issue and finally read a thread on CB that stated the issue. Since then, I have not used Content Protection so I don't know if the problem has been fixed with later releases. It is not a BES issue, as I was on BIS when I noticed this. If there is a solution, I would like to know also.

The PIN does not actually change but after a battery pull, BBM is telling me I have to resend my pin to all of my contacts or they will be deleted.

If I choose YES...they never get a request to update from me. I always have to send them a new request.

If I choose NO...they are deleted.

BBM works as designed once I re-establish my contacts again. But once I do another battery pull....the cycle starts again.

*Update* I went by the VZW corporate store and got a blank stare from the "tech" I then called VZW tech and was transferred to RIM. The RIM person wanted to resend service books...I have no access to DM at work so I had to call back last night...The RIM rep steped me through reinstall of BBM through App loader...battery pull, all contacts stayed as they should....this morning turn the phone on, same message....call RIM again, she wants to wipe the phone. 1 in store visit to VZW and 5 calls to VZW/RIM that is alot to ask someone with a phone that I have owned for 39 days.
