Default BES 5 Enables Firewall on Blackberries?

I've installed BES 5 on a test network along with Exchange 2007. We are going to be implementing this system in the future. Right now, only my Blackberry Curve 8310 is on the BES. Initially, the firewall on my Blackberry was not enabled. When I hooked my Blackberry up to my computer to bring policies down from the BES, somehow the firewall became enabled and locked on. I have looked through all the BES policy options and cannot find one to disable the firewall. Why can the firewall not be controlled through the policies? (Or am I missing something?)
Thanks.
