Default BES 5.0- Loading Device Bundle Configurations

We have upgraded to BES 5.0 recently, and have set up the device OS bundle configurations that we load on a device. When switching a device to a new user we used to nuke and reload the OS each time, which with corporate policies is required. I have found how to what was referred to as "Nuke" the device which is now listed as "Delete all device data and disable device".

Now I cannot find a way to apply a loaded configuration bundle to a BlackBerry that has not been assigned to a user. Where is the option to load an unassigned device from these configurations?

Has this been addressed yet? I'm trying to push an OS Update Bundle to a device that does not have a currently assigned user. Possible with BES/BAS 5? I am looking to just plug in the BB, use the BAS console and use the Attached Devices section to push the update (wired).

Thanks.

I don't think this is possible. I think the phone has to be assigned to a user to get any configurations or policies sent to it from the BES. All the settings to assign these that I've seen are under the users, not the devices. In a way, it makes sense that you can only push stuff to devices with assigned users, or else you could put stuff on any random Berry you get your hands on. If it's assigned by user, then it is more restricted, and more difficult to put company software on non-company related phones.

If you are just wanting to update the OS on the phone, you could install it on your computer and use Desktop Manager to do it rather than doing it OTA.

May I ask why you want to push software to non-user associated phones? Are they currently spares you want to keep up to date? Otherwise, why not wait until you assign a user to the phone? Once you assign the phone, the software configuration would be pushed out.

In that case you'd probably be best off downloading the OS, and using Desktop Manager to update the phone. Either that or using something like BBSAK, reset the phone to factory to remove any IT policies, and use the standard wireless update features.

I'm assuming these are "spare" phones that you keep on hand for new hires and/or emergencies. Would it be easier to set up the phones as belonging to "Generic User" (change the middle initial for multiple phones), then reassign them to people as needed?
