Default Desktop software crashes during synch (a lot)...help...

I am runing XP SP3. I used to use desktop software 4.2 with my 8700. I now have an 8310 and used the CD that came with it which uses 4.3. It worked great for a week or two, but it has started to fail during synch. So I go through a process that is a pain...uninstall then go into msconfig to reboot with no startup devices running and reintstall then restart with the startup devices back on then reconfigure to synch. I have tried this with the media manager loaded and with it not loaded. Same thing.
Why does this keep happening and are there solutions?

Default

The current version of DM is at least 4.6.

I periodically get an error during synch with a combination of the some letters and numbers in the message.

Instead of rebooting go to your applications folder and find RIM under Application Data (My computer - local disk C - Documents & Settings - your name - Application Data - RIM - Blackberry).

Find the Intellisynch folder and rename it to OLD. The next time you start DM you will have to reconfigure synch so it can create a new folder.

THis is a pain but is the only solution I could find after looking at multiple sites. Since upgrading DM and the OS in December, I have had to rename my synch folder 9 times but I synch daily.
