Default Calendar Options on BB w/BES

I gave up on Palm after seeing that the new Pre will not be the device for me. So here I am testing a BB Curve with Sprint after using Treo 755p with Chatter, Datebk and 2day for a very long time and loving everything except for the instability and lack of GPS.

My main concern is viewing multiple calendars. I use(d) pcoketfolder from Chapura to copy my business partner's calendar into my exchange calendar and all of his events were then in a certain category. I could then use Datebk to filter so I would usually only see my events but could see his when needed.

BB doesn't support categories for events. I tried to do something with Google Calendar but I am not sure that will work either. Pocket Informant didn't filter by categories either. Does anyone have any good ideas to make this work?

Default gadgetfreak...

your post sounded so much like me .. i too just got a curve.. and am trying to figure out things.. i wish i had an answer for you i do not. i do have a question seeing as you are a palm user like myself. i am hoping you might know this... here is my post for another forum. many thanks for your help.

can you tell me if my bb curve 8330 has this feature... can i create appointments from my contact/address book lists? i make a huge amount of appts each day and am hoping i dont have to type each and every name in there. i am aware i can use recurring feature for repeat appts. i am referring to non recurring appts. i hope this makes sense.

i am a former palm user..this is my first blackberry straight out of the box. with palm i could go to my calendar click on the top portion of the screen where it said phone contacts and it would bring me to my phone contact directory. from there i could highlight a specific contact and it would be entered in my appt book.

My biggest issue with the BB calendar is that there are no categories!

I think this is such a huge oversight and the only reason I still carry my palm with me. If there are any developers reading this right now...good way to make a **** load of money is create a calendar with categories and have it able to pull up info from contacts... I as well as A LOT of others would pay bit $$$ to have something like that.

I do not see that this is an option. However, I remember seeing a program that integrates all the different PIM programs on the BB and may allow for this. However, I cannot remember what it is called now. Sorry.

I totally agree. Once calendars have categories (that can be filtered), a whole new world of viewing options can be tapped. I miss this the most from my Treo 755p.

I totally agree. I just switched from a Centro and I so miss my categories. I downloaded Pocket informant as I saw numerous posts saying it had color capabilities - and it DOES! the only problem is that I can't get it to be my main calendar. Outlook still syncs with BB calendar and BB calendar still shows up in the Agenda view. If anyoe knows how to fix this I would love to know. It also does all of the calendar, tasks, etc by category.
