 7250 Messenger Issues

Hello,
I do not have a BB Messenger icon, I have everything including my email set up. My same phone that no longer works had the same issue when I first puchased it and blackberry tech help was able to make it appear over the phone...not sure what we did to make it work. Now is there any method to make this work....Or will I have to download newer software?
Currently installing the Desktop Manager, Telus told me to install this update too:
>BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.1.0.314 (Multilanguage)
Is there an actual BB Messenger App that needs to be installed as well? And where could I find this for the 7250...
Also I have tried the ALT+WHEEL and the only thing it says in the menu is: Move/Hide application.
