Will this be similar to the new version that was just released for the iPhone? Hopefully they will have fixed the memory leak as well.

Doubt it. Facebook actually makes the app for the iphone. RIM makes it for the blackberry, so the functionality on the iphone will always be better IMO. Unless FB starts developing the app for BB.
