And considering all of us VZW BB users knew about the $29.99 unlimited BIS plan before any of the reps at Verizon did (thus causing much frustration when trying to get the data package) - I'll have to take the side of the "believe it when I see it" group.

Default I don't know which I like better....

The store rep that without missing a beat looks you straight in the eye and says "we won't have it for while" as if they know an actual time frame.

Or the store rep that looks you straight in the eye and says the "8830 is our Curve".

Or the store rep that looks you straight in the eye and says "We don't have that, but what about this Treo?".

I think the store reps are about as informed as anyone in the lowest rung of their company could be. Not to mention the fact that is seems like a lot of them aren't as in to cell phones as we are.

For a BB830 newbie here, can I ask what the excitement of "The Curve" is? Are they're specific advantages the Curve has that the 8830 doesn't for instance? Or is mainly personal preference for the posters here?

The Curve has a camera, 3.5mm headphone jack, a left AND a right soft key for shortcuts, and a better keyboard than the 8800 series (in my opinion). It's more media-centric than the 8800 series.

The RED Pearl should drop on that date not the CURVE.
It's already on AMAZON.COM

That sounds correct for Sprint to release the Red Pearl on or about 1/13 since Verizon is releasing a Pink Pearl.

I believe until Verizon states it will release the Curve, Sprint won't say anything about it. They seem to be one step behind Verizon regarding releasing devices.

With verizon the blackberry add-on option used to be $44.99. Now they've split that into 2 add-on packages, one for just email and internet (unlimited) for $29.99 and another for corporate email/internet/data for $44.99. If you don't have a blackbery enterrprise server at work (and dont need your contacts, calendar, tasks, and memos synced with work) then you only need the $29.99 add-on plan.

Those palns are of course on top of your regular phone plan. Now they've combined them to just 2 blackberry plans, one being $79 the other $99. They include your minute plan + your blackbery add-on package.

Good point, I think they shy away from being 1st to market to make sure there are no major bugs-they have been burned before.

Trust me the Curve is coming!!!

Maybe Sprint and Verizon have an agreement about devices since Sprint can roam onto Verizon's data network freely. Maybe for exchange for that ability Sprint has to give Verizon first crack at any data device it wants to release.

But who knows how any of this works.

They have to know they're losing lots of sales due to not having the curve. I imagine the pearl is popular and all but I've always thought the curve was a much better seller than the pearl.

The $30 verizon add on only includes email and data. Your SMS and MMS charges are separate so you'll need to tack on another $15 for unlimited (if everyone you sms/mms is outside of verizon's network). The maps use the data portion so no worries there, as most of the BB apps use the data portion.
