Default Laptop Privacy Filters

My laptop has a glossy screen. I want to reduce the glare. Sometimes its really bad, like if there is a window behind me. I was looking at these laptop privacy filters from 3M:
3M - Privacy Filter for Laptops with a 15.4" Display - PF15.4WR

Has anyone used these? I would imagine they reduce screen brightness. Is it a significant amount of reduction? Would anyone recommend these or are they just a waste of time and money?

I used to have the 3M Privacy Filter but now I use the ViewGuard Anti-Glare Privacy Filter. It works really good and is good at reducing reflections off the screen. It does reduce screen brightness as it is tinted. If you are looking only to reduce the glare off your screen then you might want to look at another ViewGuard product: ViewGuard Anti-Glare Matte Screen Protector. It offers only the anti-glare function so you aren't paying for the privacy--if you don't need it.

Their website is buyviewguard dot com

Thanks for the info. I'm glad that there is a screen protector that just reduces glare.
