Smile WeatherEye 2 Beta

Attention CrackBerry users! The Weather Network has been diligently working over the past months on an update to our popular WeatherEye application and we’re just about ready to go and would like your help for the final round of testing.

UPDATE! (Jan 25, 2010) A big 'THANK YOU' to all beta testers. We believe we have resolved most of the issues posted and are now ready to launch the final build.

The version runs on BB OS 4.3 and above includes:

New WeatherEye design

WiFi Connectivity

Ability to add multiple cities

Radar maps

Hourly forecast

GPS locator

The developers will be monitoring this thread, so if you run into any issues, feel free to post them here or email them at betatesting@pelmorex.com and we’ll respond promptly.

Our plan is to go live in the New Year so make sure you get your feedback in early. Note: we’re interested in your comments for new features and functionality, but this release will be focussed on current functionality only.

NOTE:

This test version will add a log file to your device which may be requested for further analysis by The Weather Network, to help us identify and resolve potential technical issues. The Weather Network ensures that no personal data will be stored.

Data will be accurate and real time, but due to the fact that it’s still on a test server there may be short periods of “data not available”.

Thanks for your help!

The Weather Network

Just installed and rebooted device when prompted. Attempted to run app and got an Uncaught exception: net.rim.device.api.io.file.FileIOException: File system error (12). Is this related to my Bold running on 5.0 OS?

First off, it conflicts with WeatherEye 1.0, second it throws up an invalid COD on my 9700 Bold running 5.0.0.421

Thank you for feedback.

There seem to be an issue on OS5.x (cod error and io exception), I will try to get a hold of an appropriate device and test some of it out and hopefully fix it.

WE1.0 conflicting with beta, excellent point. I will see if we can change the app name for the beta so it does not create a problem for those using it.

Thank you

I hope also there will be landscape mode for the storm. I hate it when it goes half screen when u open it in landscape.

Great to see someone else from Pelmorex on here

Just downloaded the new beta and it works great on Telus 9700/5.0.0 (Standard release)

Couple of problems when you go from the interactive map, to the options screen, then back to the map, the map image gets moved to the top left of the screen instead of being in the center.

This doesn't always happen but another bug I experience while in the interactive map, from time to time if the menu is open and you go to move from left to right to select a different screen, it actually moves the map and not the navigation/menu bar.

Aside from that great improvement, I also noticed the volume up and down control the map zoom level, very cool.

It's running very well on my tour. I have a 5.0.0.230 hybrid OS. This is very nice so far! I haven't used most of the features yet... I am knee deep in studying for finals anyway, only suggestion would be to have a normal menu come up when you press the blackberry menu button. I greatly dislike the dock thing that comes up because it makes it harder to exit and the text is very small. Just my $.02

Uninstalled and reinstalled; briefly opened splashscreen then gave same error as I had previously posted.

Alright, had to uninstal 1.0 to get it to instal and it installed fine, if you install over 1.0 you get the invalid COD and incompatability errors.
Loving it. Weather warning red circle bolt is bigger on the menu screen than 1.0 and completely covers the current weather symbol, can it be reduced to the 1.0 size? or even smaller?
Love the new features, layouts. multiple cities, radar maps, and hourly forcasts.

Nitpicks: On the current weather screen, scrolling weather warnings are rather on the small size. among with the afore mentioned enlarged warning icon on the menu screen

Great work!
and yes, best to have a seperate file name to separate between ver 1 and 2

Zolutar. Thank you for testing it and discovering this issue. I am happy that you got it to work by uninstalling v1. When we make a new release we will have the application called WeatherEyeBeta so it does not conflict with WeatherEye 1.0

SaneinOne. I am trying to get a Bold with version 5 to see what the issue is, for now can you check permissions you have set for the WeatherEye? It should be under Options-> Advanced Options->Applications (click menu on the WeatherEye) then click Edit Permissions.

Thank you all for the feedback!
