Default logMaid: Auto EventLog Clear

simple event log wiper that clears the log every hour for those OCD free-memory people.
Auto runs on startup and runs in the background so dont look for an icon on ur home screen

What if you just set the Event log to not log? That is what alot of us do...

I think if you set the log filter to hide all, it still logs events into the store but doesnt show up in the viewer. try a "javaloader -usb eventlog" to see what i mean.

I don't think hiding was what they were talking about, from what I hear there are ways to turn it OFF/disable it completely, but who knows... it's a nice option to have a program to do it all for you.

seems kinda shady though, no icon? so it runs automatically... I like to be able to control my stuff.

What is the point for deleting eventlog? Does it free up memory?

The even log is exactly what it sounds like. A log of events that's pasted in a folder to aid in troubleshooting. Most folks have absolutely no reason for saving these logs, plus it gets filled up rather quickly. Try it out -

From home screen hold down "alt" and type in "lglg". When the log appears hit the BB key, and select "clear log", then confim the deletion. Now open your browser and close it. Bam, like 200 entries. I clear my log about 5 times a day and usually get about half an mb of memory back, so for those of you who have never done it you might want to check your application memory before you clear the log for the first time to see how much memory you free up.

And for the other claim... I'm no expert, but in another thread a couple of CB mods were saying that minus a 3rd party app, there's no way to stop the device from logging the events. According to them, hiding the log doesn't prevent the events from being recorded, and actually uses more memory (although minutely) because it's creating another shortcut to find the log.

With all of this in mind, I'll be downloading this app at the conclusion of this posting, because I'm all for anything that will help me control my OCD!

LOL.

So is there an icon or option menu for this yet? A lot of people told me they won't use it if they can't see it.

phrehnck, is there any chance you can enhance logMaid (or create browserMaid) that will periodically clear the browser's cache and history?
For same reasons (memory, clatter) clearing the cache+history might be helpful.
Thanks.
