Default BBSmart Shortcuts 1.3 Released

Hi All,

After a long night and a couple of cans of Jolt Cola, BBSmart Shortcuts v1.3 has now been released.

If you have already purchased the program, you should receive a notification email shortly.

Please note:
If you wish to install the update Over-The-Air, make sure that on the download page the version listed is 1.3. If not, you may need to select "Refresh" from your BlackBerry Browser menu to clear out the cache.

Also, you do not have to uninstall the previous version prior to installing this new version. All your settings, shortcuts, etc. should be transferred over in the upgrade.

Changes since the previous version include:
- Fixed NullPointerException error on upgrade
- Fixed bug where auto-complete would not kick in (or kick in incorrectly) once "Loading contacts..." was displayed.
- Toolbar Buttons now force-justified on screen.
- Toolbar will only display "Move" menu option if >1 buttons are displayed.
- Linked enter key to navigation click on Shortcut managers and New Shortcut dialogs.
- New Toolbar Button popup now sorted alphabetically

This app is quite useful. Thanks for keeping up with it and getting it working for us all, I can only imagine the hours you've spent on this. One tip for those updating to 1.3 and then the convenience key no longer launching the app -

Go to options> screen/keyboard> convenience key> set to anything else> save. Then go back in and set it to BBSmart Shortcuts. It will work then.

It is great to know the developer takes an active role in the CB community and really cares about an end-user release that works properly, without errors and bugs!!

Thanks for being a f*cking awesome developer!! Your apps are all great, IMO... and I like Shortcuts along with Alarm Pro a TON!

It's really nice to see that an app company starts working on a fix immediately when a flaw is found. Makes me feel comfident in owning bbsmart email view, alarms pro and shortcuts knowing any issues that arise will be addressed quickly.

Bought it and it works a treat. I noticed a couple of the bugs but hadn't had much time to customise this program.

One other request. Is it possible to map the "lock keyboard" or "standby" as a toolbar icon?

Based on the information I have heard going back and forth between different users with "pros & cons" and with the customer service that Neil (aka eZainny) has been provided A+ in my books, I believe that this will be a truly incredible application with enough feedback this program will do what you want with the only restriction of what RIM software might allow.

Default Cut & Paste PLEASE

Had some problems initially but thanks to excellent customer care by BBSmart everything is now running as described. That being said, I think that being unable to cut & paste, especially URL's is a serious shortcoming. I am confident that this will be addressed in the near future.

This is a great product. However, I have a question. I have my email and SMS in seperate inboxes. Why doesn't the SMS folder appear in the list of icons I can add to the toolbar?

Getting an error, when I try to send a text message to someone that I added to BBSmart Shortcuts. I did email the support line...

Hi naviwilliams,

Our support person is a little bit snowed under with emails at the moment so taking a bit longer than usual to reply.

Does the phone number for the person you added to SMS contain any unusual characters in it? I think there might still be one outstanding bug (that we're working on now) related to this.

I'm having the same problems as naviwilliams even thought I've upgraded to V 1.3 - can't send text messages. Get "Uncaught exception: illegal opening string" message but phone numbers are fine - no unusual characters. E-mails work fine though from Shortcuts.

Many icons (e.g. SMS Inbox and BB Maps to name two) are not available to be added to the toolbar, which is puzzling. The inability to copy and paste urls, or better yet, link to existing bookmarks for web shortcuts is also dissapointing. Adding shortcuts for emails, SMS texts, and phone calls is easy and works well, but I'll wait to see if at least the two limitations mentioned above are addressed before I make this app a permanent addition to my BB. Great idea with a lot of potential, I'll be waiting for v1.4.
