Question Why an Older Blackberry?

The 7xxx and older blackberry series are undoubtly sexy. But why would you buy an older blackberry that doesn't have good connection speeds or any features besides a qwerty keyboard? I mean, they were nice in there day but there are better, sexier blackberrys avaliable today. I'm truly curious why..

Some people just stick with what they are familiar with, some are a little chintzy, and others just don't care for new.

Cheaper

Some people don't need to use the browser or play music, but want the anytime access to their email.

More reliable (in some cases). My 8703e was one solid little workhorse, that I couldn't screw up no matter how hard I tried.

I was the BB admin at a previous job and when we started pushing the curve onto users..they didnt want them. I know for a fact that the 7xxx series was stable as **** and less confusing.
They either just dont want to change or they see the extra options as useless.

when blackberrys first came out, the older people who started using them had a tough time figuring out how to use a new device, and they just don't see the need to do it again when they have a perfectly reliable device that fulfills their needs

I'll have to agree. I have a pearl 8130 and I hardly use the multimedia features. I have my BB for the email and ease of use. I don't even understand why some people pick handsets based on mp3 player and not what it can truly do.

Lol. That's how it is with us too. In a way, i kind of like the older ones too. I use the camera but could live without it. I alwasy have my digital camera. But I NEVER used my mp3 player. Wasted. Why pay for stuff you aren't going to use?

Now I have the iPhone and actually use most of the features daily. That didn't always happen with my BB.

I think its funny when everyone pulls out top of the line iphones, blackberrys, other smartphones etc... and I pull an old school 7290 out of my pocket. I get a lot of strange looks with it from people who know the difference.

The 7290 is a solid device that does what exactly what it says on the tin. It always gets the odd look when I pull it out and wouldn't swap it for a modern blackberry-i ve got my mp3 player and digital camera so I don't need the extra features that other bbs offer.
