Default Nokia N900

So this looks better than MyTouch... albeit another flavor of Linux. Nokia is really going after Apple now. I suspect the rub is the price but I still want one.

3 row keyboard on a 3.5" screen device is gonna attract a lot of hate...

I was fixated on the Touch Pro2 but this just blows that thing out of the water! Like Cgull said, Nokia has Apple in their crosshairs with this one.

This is what the N97 should have been(if you swap Maemo 5 for S60 5th Edition, of course), IMO.

How much 3rd party app support does Maemo have though?

This phone is sick! I was watchin videos on it earlier...looks real good too

It has 32GB of memory (support of 16GB SDcard)
256MB RAM
5.0 megapixel camera
The screen resolution is like 860X480 or something like that (that's ridiculous)
Supports Adobe Flash Player

Major downfall....is not a Blackberry lol

It's 800x480, WVGA. Fairly standard for high end phones these days. Last time Nokia released a phone with 32gb internal storage it was mega expensive....

Hope they don't make the same mistake twice...

Price is supposed to be 500 euro which is in the $1k range in the US.
Guess it depends on which carrier and how much they subsidize it as to the end user cost.

Priced about the same as the iphone.

Apparently, they have quite a bit of third party apps and developers out there. There are a few Crackberry-esque sites dedicated to Maemo with some added support from the Symbian crowd.

Yeah, it's just south of 900USD. Nokia apparently has a habit of understating the final retail price of their devices(a la N86 and E75) although I can see retailers(ahem, Amazon.com) lowering the price not too long after release [as with the N97] in order to get it into more hands.

As far as subsidies, that remains to be seen. There haven't been any sightings of an N900 with T-Mobile tats yet. Well, none that've come to my attention, at least...

It does support Tmobile 1700Mhz 3G service, so that is a plus. Also I have read that it is headed for Tmobile USA (of course this is just a rumor)

I would imagine it's going to be pricey regardless of what U.S. carrier picks it up.Nokia is usually quick to drop prices.

AT&T/Rogers 3G-compatible Nokia N900? Not so fast… : Boy Genius Report

Would be pretty stupid if they end up not making a 850/1900mhz UMTS version...

Target only the tmobile market? That wouldn't make any sense at all...

May have to pick this up once my AT&T contract is up or they sell it in AT&Y friendly 3G bands.
