I have had a BB for several years, with one year of lunacy (tried a WM device) and every time there is a very large number of new activations there seems to be issues. Funny how it always seems to be right around Christmas.
For all of you that have spent time on the phone with Tech Support you have my sympathies. Network outages are not on their troubleshooting flowcharts so are of little assistance.
Because of the reach of Crackberry I actually find it more valuable information source then either VZW or RIM.
Now with that said am I mad at RIM because of this service outage? Absolutely not. Our dependency on computers has gotten to be so much that hey when $hit happens, everyone is up in arms.
Myself, I think the problem is that RIM has used MS software to run things and is suffering the dreaded BSOD disease.

Chicago, Illinois suburbs...8830 on Verizon...

Browner started going away at 1PM or so, Google Talk and Yahoo messenger crashed around 4. Tried BBerry messenger ay 6PM, no luck.

Verizon customer circus blames everything on RIM and has no idea when it will be up but reassuringly told me that this is now a "master ticket" for Blackberry--the biggest, baddest, total panic-set condition 1S/Q-all hands on deck-general quarters clusterf**k that they can generate over at RIM.

While the kids over at Research In Muerta are running around all willy-nilly, I can confirm that Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk, Blackberry messenger (PIN to PIN are all down. E-mails are down but texts are getting in and out and voice calls are OK. Verizon customer circus claims that texts to and from other carriers are getting through, and I did send and recieve texts from a US Cellular bberry user an hour ago.

Everybody enjoying their RIM job tonight?
