The pre is a new device. People on this site have threads about their green dot tours. People are waiting for the storm II to adress issues with the first one. Any new phone is gonna have some issues. That's why I don't by new just released cell phones. I buy new been out a while phones. I don't get to be cutting edge, but I'm not paying to product test either.

Does this make the new tech "a toy"? No. And I also think, like any new device, some people are going to have a better unit than others -- we definitely see that with the Tour...and while I wasn't around for its launch, the Storm. Y'all remember that? Yup...new technology for BlackBerry filled with a bit of a bumpy road. But I guess Pre and other companies aren't entitled to these things that come along with going in a new direction from a software and hardware standpoint. Only RIM. Great to know.
I also happen to think that a lot of people who come to forums like CB tend to stress-test their phones, even subconsciously, trying to push their limits and do things that your normal, everyday user wouldn't do. Plus, I think a lot of people don't take time to really understand the nuances of their devices. That's not directed at anybody in particular...it's just a fact. We expect something to work a certain way, but in uncharted territory, it doesn't...so we get frustrated. That's human nature, sadly...especially in this day and age. Would I have personally tested it for longer than 3 days? Yes...but not everybody thinks like me. And that's fine. That's ther perogative, because it's their money they spent, and they deserve to get their money's worth.
Yeah, okay, so I get this is a BlackBerry-centric site. But that doesn't make the BlackBerry the be-all and end-all of devices, regardless of what some people think. Of course, to listen to those same people who on one hand say everybody should have a BB because it's the greatest device ever, they also say that oh, no...you're not using your BB to its full potential, so you shouldn't have it and should switch to something else.
The iPhone? Not my cup of tea, but not a toy. How do I know? When you push a button, you don't hear Mickey Mouse telling you something.
The Pre? A bold new step for Palm with mixed results, but again...not a toy. How do I know? It doesn't have pre-recorded messages from Shrek that play when you push buttons.
The Slinky I have on my desk? Useful paperweight, and by that theory, a useful business device....but alas....a toy.
I'm starting to wonder if I'm cut out for a BB, since I apparently don't have the snobbish attitude that some users seem to. I hope that's not an effect of owning the phone for a certain period of time, because I'll definitely get rid of it before then, if that's the case!

| | Great post CNY, but I have to correct you on one thing. No matter what it may be, music, phones, artists, politics, you'll always encounter fanboys. You know, the people who could never like two things at once. Albert Pujols rules, so every other baseball player sucks. Kobe is the man, so Wade, Bron, Melo, and Durant is trash compared to him. You get my point. Be proud that you're in the small percentile who appreciates the finer things in life, no matter what it may be.

I'm not trying take a side as I'm sure both the BB and the Pre has strengths and weaknesses... this just always makes me laugh so I though I'd share it.

Its just silly for someone to proclaim themselves an "expert" on a phone they owned for a week and a half, and then try and warn others to never buy one.
And why would I have feelings about a phone? Pretty sure I'm not the one that got worked up, as you did over my post, if you'd like to talk about feelings.
And I actually have a life, so my posting here does not revolve around "upping my post count". The posts I make actually address and discuss things, and are generally helpful to others, not "wah wah boo hoo" posts, or posts that are just *****ing and pointless like yours.
But its good that you, a curve owner, are here to patrol the WebOS/Palm Pre forum. Keep doing good sir.

I own both a BB and an iPhone and see the pros and cons of each device. I also look at other things and don't instantly judge them by the brand. Fanboys are ridiculous.
I just love being called a fanboy when I defend a product when someone clearly has no clue what they are talking about (when BB users come into the iPhone forum and give false information).

uhm just for starters, i am NOT a fanboy of any kind. i love apple, i love RIM, i love palm, i give credit where it's due. and if you don't know 99% of what a phone can do in 10 days then you are a ******* *****!
you guys need to stop acting like the pre rocks, its a useless piece of ****! the email drains battery 10x faster than the berries and its NOT as fast.
the speaker SUCKS on the pre, plain and simple.
HARDWARE IS JUST BAD!
i would LOVE to rant and rave about the pre but i have never hated any device more than i hate the pre...

You hate the Pre. I hated my Instinct the few days I owned. My sister loves it to this day. Many love the Pre and couldn't go back to any BB after using it. What exactly is your point? Why do you feel the need to convince others to share in your hatred?

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com | Most of those problems occurred well before the phone launched in the US, which is worth noting as it gives an entirely different experience for US buyers vs non.

the whole point of this was to help me get my anger out about how palm botched the hardware on this potentially AMAZING device -_-
