I have the Pre and the Storm.
Honestly, the Pre is blowing the Storm away.
Browser speed, function speeds, transitions, etc.
Im sure there are certain aspects of both phones that are applicable to individual needs, but for me, the Pre is doing great...Now if Verizon would get it NOW so i can drop my new Sprint contract............

How can you call a device a failure when its just going into its first month. I would wait a couple months before any phone is named that.

why is the pre a sub par device? well let's see:
1) build quality of a fisher price toy
2) no sd support or expandable storage. ever.
3) the jokes-on-you miniature portrait only slider keyboard
4) handicapped copy/paste
5) battery life is a joke
6) signal and reception issues. not isolated incidents.
7) no auto spell check.
8) no auto period at end of sentence.
9) no auto capitalization.
10) 3rd party apps needed to sync all outlook stuff and make it a real corp device.
11) laggggG. sure it can multitask but at a cost. oh yeah, and try answering a phone call while having any app open...
12) needs to be reset daily to work right.
13) updates have come fast and furious, but they haven't addressed any real issues that matter to the end user. no new functionality. palm has a bad track record here...
15) need to backup everything on your pre? nope. the "cloud" only backs up some things.
16) need to tell the difference between read and unread messages? so sorry.
17) bubbles and/or blotches in the screen of less than two month old devices.
18) slider wiggles and twists like an oreo cookie.
19) no tethering.
20) no indicator light.
21) no video recorder.
22) palm is holding the sdk hostage.
i could keep going, but I already know what the palm fanboys are going to say. let me say this. good luck to pre users expecting a substantive update. sure a few updates got pushed out quickly, haven't really done much to address the real issues though. and palm's prior track record doesn't bode well for you. an update won't fix any of the most serious problems anyway. the pre needs a significant redesign.

Pull your Storm out of your *** and go back to using your sub-par device.

Come on partners, can't we just get along? I for one have only seen the youtube vid on the pre and thank its cute, when Blackberry's name alone gets mentioned its like apples and oranges. Yeah the storm didn't do so hot coming out. I've had mine since day one and still have it. It may not be snappy as my wifes moodswings but it is a fun and innovative device pushed out by a good quality company. When the demand is high and the competition is hot you gotta make things happen fast. For the storm it was premature birth. I have no complaints about my storm. I'm sitting on a solid OS on a jailbroken 9530. Some people had a bad run with the storm and some love it.

BzB, I'm beginning to think you're obviously confusing your own broken phone with the Pre.
1) You own a Storm and are talking about poor build quality? Heavy does NOT equal quality. The Storm sucks in this regard.
2) Valid point, but my phone is my phone - not my music collection. I never changed out the 8GB SD in my Storm for the same reason (well, that and because of the crash-tastic SD card issues the Storm has).
3) I type MUCH faster on the Pre keyboard than I ever did on the Storm. Plus, all of the keys work on the first press!
4) Another valid point.
5) This is so 2 weeks ago. I run my Pre with wifi and bt on all the time now and and am all set for battery life.
6) I have no issues with reception. This is because Sprint has good coverage here - something I CHECKED before buying the Pre.
7) True, but it's amazing how well you can type when you have a working keyboard.
8 and 9) Really? See point 3 and 7.
10) I'm using mine as a "real corp device". I no longer have to bring my laptop into meetings, which is nice. I am hooked into our exchange server now after the update and I'm getting everything as soon as it's sent. No 3rd party app needed.
11) This is where you're confused with the Storm. The Storm is a lag-tastic mess of a phone. And that's even when you're not running apps in the background. Also, savage memory leak on the Storm is apparently a feature, not a bug. GOOD JOB RIM!
12) Hold on. What? I haven't reset my device EVER. Absolutely NO NEED. Never has been. It's not like the Storm, where there is a whole section of applications in the app store dedicated to soft rebooting the Storm and/or resetting it daily on a timer.
13) You mean like fixing the battery life? Or adding better exchange support?
14) apparently your numbering system doesn't include 14. Did you get distracted because you had to reboot your Storm?
15) Because if I lose my phone, I'm going to be worried about my app settings or linked profiles. The fact is that I get more consistent backups on my Pre, and I get that without needing to use a data cable and computer.
16) Unread mails are bolded, read mails are not. How is that hard to understand?
17) Bubbles? Maybe because of a poorly applied screen protector. Also, can you say color banding? 148 has it - Pre does not.
18) True on some phones. If this is an issue on your phone, exchange it. You know, just like we had to do several times because of the SurePress screen on the Storm.
19) no OFFICIAL tethering. If I had to pay an extra $50 a month, I would (and do) prefer to have an Expresscard.
20) Right. Instead, there is an indicator AREA that gives you much more information.
21) For now.
22) Hostage? Do you say this because it's not out right now for download by anyone? Besides the fact that it's already been leaked, and that it's based on open standards, Palm has expanded it's early access program and doubled the number of developers in it. So Mojo is already available to anyone who wants it, and the official release is the end of summer. Is that "hostage"?

| Hellooooo Storm 2! Have fun shelling out that out of contract price for a phone that will still have touchscreen support crammed into the OS with a crowbar instead of being designed in from the beginning.

What will v5.0 be like ???
| Well, if the first look on that german blog is any indication, inferior.
Let's see...
OS 5.0 loaded - check
amAze loaded to provide some kind of turn by turn GPS - check
Bolt to provide something approaching a compelling browesr experience - check
Gmail/GoogleSync to hook into a Google account - check
Instango for messaging - check
Meter Berry to monitor memory and reboot the phone daily - check
QuickLaunch to provide an efficient way to launch programs - check
socialscope to hook into social networks - check
ÜberTwitter to interact with Twitter - check
And while it's nice to see that they fixed the device locking, looks like color banding is still in effect, the keyboard still has problems, and THE PHONE FUNCTIONALITY is problematic. Rock on, RIM - another quality update is in the works!
