| | The Pre Palm Is Good.. But It's No Blackberry
Blackberry is way too dependable.. Easy to use..
I messed around with the pre... Weak keyboard.. under thin plastic..
nice displays but i think it's trying too hard to try to keep up with "the eye" of the consumer.. yes it's a nice phone..
but it's no blackberry!

And since it has sold a ridiculous amount worldwide I would say that many have the same experience. You see the thousands of threads on issues, and hear about the thousands of replacements, but do you take in to account the MILLIONS that were sold? Yes, it may have a higher failure rate than other BlackBerry devices, but that doesnt make it the worst. It is also completely different than ANY other BlackBerry device. If you read the threads, many of the issues are when users try to compare the Storm to what they THINK should happen (flick scrolling, capacitive touch, SurePress), all things that with a little bit of product research, a little bit of THINKING before purchasing, should not even enter into the forums.

Rim just slapped the same ol OS on a touchscreen device and thought that would cut it and many people bought it because it says blackberry on it. The storm has a good physical design and the blackberry OS is great but they do not go together. That os does not work on a touchscreen. I'm glad you didn't have problems with your storm but that os was never made for a touchscreen and that's why a stable one couldn't be built. .148 is better than the previous but still random reboots here and there and severe lag. The os is just not compatible with the phone. I'm sorry but when you use a device that doesn't lag and does what you want EVERYTIME you want, you won't settle for that. My bold works perfectly. Why? Because the blackberry os is perfect for full qwerty and not a touchscreen yet.

No it isn't a blackberry, but for me, the pre has replaced my bb curve as my phone. I enjoy it.

| I think that's the point. It's NOT a Blackberry. Some people *gasp* DON'T LIKE their BBs and want something else. I thank god the Pre isn't a Blackberry, because quite frankly my last experience with RIM and Verizon wasn't very good and they've both lost my business. I've been dealing with the Storm's problems for so long that it feels weird for me to have a phone I don't have to MAINTAIN and can actually just use. No more battery pulls, no more setting it to reboot at 4:30AM to recover the memory it lost in the past day, no more having to take the back off and adjust the bit of business card I have under there so the bottom row of keys in landscape all function properly. No more having to buy external software to make up for phone shortcomings.
And no more searching for a new OS hoping to god that I can find one that doesn't cause as many problems as it attempts to fix.
So thanks for the news flash. You're 100% right. The Pre IS NOT a Blackberry. I, for one, am thankful.

I think the Palm Pre is different and hard to compare to a blackbeery. I think it is better compared to the iphone as seeing it has a very similar touch recognition and feel to it.
