I had a Palm Pre before getting my Curve. It took a unhealthy tumble down a pair of steel stairs at work. I found the Pre to be junk. Pure junk. It froze up all the time and had a weird problem where it would shut off in the middle of texting or opening email. it then had to be completely rebooted. Also the keypad was a bit small but I was willing to work with that if the features rivaled that of the iphone. I had a Treo755 before the Pre and was hoping that the Pre would have all the features of the Treo and then some. Needless to say that I didn't do much research on the phone before I bought it so, I paid dearly for that. Anyway my 8330 offers almost the same features as my Treo did so Im good with it.

That's sad to hear. My Pre hasn't had any of those problems, but I have admit this my second Pre cause the first on I got had the worst hardware ever, I think it was reburished or it was a first genaration one. However the one I currently have is amazing and I love it, although I might betray for an Android because Android 2.0 rocks. Why didn't you go for a Tour?

The Pre is a great first attempt for a more-or-less brand new company. This isnt the same palm that the PDAs, they only kept the name and designed and build new hardware/software platform that did pretty good. Nonetheless, out of the box, its very limited in terms of customization and features. I was very excited about it, got it, had it for a week, then returned it because Sprint charges 20 cents per minute for forwarded calls while its free on Verizon.
