Played with a Pre, OS is nice, but the phone itself felt really cheap. I think they're both **** ugly, much unlike my sexy BB. :-) I was a Palm fan for a long time. Then came my Bold, which started a life long love affair with BB. And now I'm settling down with my Tour.

I think most of you don't see that it is everything you guys place it to be, stripped down version of the pre, it is most likely targeted for people who can't afford a pre. I do agree that it doesn't look that appealing but not all people would feel that way. In my opinion, this is a revamped version of a Centro, and would ideally target those customers. Palm has a great os right now and I can't deny that and I have never seen them update their os so fast before.

Ok people this is a cheaper pre. That is all. Its a webos for people who don't want to shell out 300 for the pre. Im not a fan of the look, i dont' think its bad, just not my taste. I think they would ahve been better off designing it more off the storm/iphone with full screen and virtual keyboard. I don't think its going to be a bad phone if it retails for $99 or 199.99 w/mail in rebate. But for what it is, its not bad. I would rather have this than the pre.

This is not a new Pre. This is not a Pre 2. This is a low-end device that Palm is producing targeted at a different market. This is going to be cheaper than the Pre. This device is in no way intended to be labeled better than the Pre.

Why do some of you think it is a new Pre, when it is clearly named the Pixi and has less of everything (besides on device storage I believe)?

I had another thread about this. Here is more details about the device. Follow the links within.

Once again, this device is not intended to be better or as good as the Pre.

This is just like the Curve 8900 & the Curve 8520. The Curve 8900 is meant for users with more experience, and the curve 8520, although it is new it is more of a friendly user device for those just getting to the BB/Smart phone world. Downgraded features such as the camera but also have external music controls.

Just because it is released after another phone doesn't make it better or more advance, they are simply trying to attract a different crowd, persons that aren't used to smart phones & think they are to complicated to have.

& to me the phone is more based off an iPhone. Touch interface, size, headphone jack, 8GB memory & ringer switch. Although it has a physical keyboard.

Exactly. Same OS, just a lower end device. The Curve example was perfect.

Sad they still didn't put a memory card slot in it. What trash.

You know to me, this looks like a relaunching of the Palm Centro. Very small and compact and .... not feminine, but immature. Like something a teenager would carry.

Exactly what I was thinking. It's essentially a replacement for the Centro. A cheap entry level smartphone. I expect it to be $99 after rebates.

I would still go with the pre, (btw not second version) as the pixi is downgraded and doesnt have wifi which is a big plus for cdma users

Say again, you sound muffled. Seriously, you're on a Tour.
