Default Official Bold 9700 OS 5.0.0.545

Software For BlackBerry® Bold (TM) 9700 smartphone

BlackBerry Handheld Software v5.0.0.922 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 5.0.0.922
Consisting of:

* Applications: 5.0.0.545
* Software Platform: 5.1.0.140
* File name: 9700M_PBr5.0.0_rel922_PL5.1.0.140_A5.0.0.545_Vodaf one_UK.exe
* File size: 131.93MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software HERE

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 9700:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

FINALLY A NEW OFFICIAL FOR 9700 !

I don't think so because it's basically the same OS as the leaked one.

Its the same OS there's nothing to gain in "upgrading".

There's no point, it's the same exact OS.

This official release by Vodafone is not the same as the leaked version. The Vodafone version is only 131 MB while the leaked version is 151 MB. A difference of 20 MB. This could mean 2 things, either the modules had been revised and fine-tuned resulting to size reduction or some of the modules had been removed. They're both having the same radio though and the same mute/standby/lock modification. Which one is better? oohhhmmm! thats something to find out.

No .. I think that the difference in size is due to language .. maybe the leaked version supports all languages and the official one supports only multilanguage no east asia ...

Multilanguage vs All Language will be a large portion of that. What else is removed, who knows. I don't recall the leak being that large. The build I'd be willing to eat my shorts is the same.
