| | Bye-bye 9700...
I received my 9700 yesterday. Used it last evening. Yah know what, not sure if it is a keeper. I immediately switched back to my iPhone 3GS before I went to bed.
The good...
-The trackpad is superb.
-OS is nice, quick and snappy.
-Nice form factor.
-The camera is not bad, nice to have a flash.
-The video recorder is nice.
Other than that, I am not that crazy about it. The device feels VERY small, although a nice form factor. The keyboard is very cramped. The browser absolutely sucks!!! Build quality is decent, but not as good as I would of thought out of RIM's latest device. The iPhone is a tank compared to BB devices. I guess I will be sticking with my iPhone for now. Looks like the 9700 is going back or I will just sell it. Got it at a decent no-commitment price, so maybe I'll hang onto it. All that research and hype for nothing. It was worth a shot. LOL!

If the 9000 had the trackpad and better camera, I may consider it. The 9000 is a brick in my opinion. It's much wider and thicker than the iPhone. Quote:

If I could only keep one, I'd keep my 3GS too. But since I can use both, I do. I just
switch sims whenever I feel like it and use my 3GS with no problems. Even VVM works.

I wish I was just focused on the browser... Seems like a serious reason the return the device. They keyboard is nice and tight. You can't get used to a keypad in one day.. Its a nice thought though.
I'm glad this little power house isn't to your liking, because you deserve the 3GS, not the 9700.

I am not saying that BBs are not tough. The iPhone just has a nice solid feel to it.
The biggest deal breaker for me is the crappy BB browser. The Safari browser absolutely rocks. I do lot of browsing. Also moderate emailing, light calling and light multi-media. Maybe the iPhone is the perfect device for me? Quote:

@walds11: That's interesting. I'm tall and have big hands, so the Bold 9000 fits me perfectly, both literally in my hand, and functionality-wise. I'm getting my Bold 9700 on Monday (or tomorrow), depending if FedEx ever wants my business again.
So what are you saying, the Bold 9700 is too small, and the Bold 9000 is too big? I never liked the iPhone, but they're good money makers. I already know that I'm not getting rid of my 9000. The most complete device that I have ever owned. I love sending a quick PIN message, responding to a time-sensitive pushed email while on the phone with my girl, conveying to her know as to how long TeleNav GPS Navigator is telling me about my ETA. I could never do that with the iPhone. I know I will be able to with the Bold 9700, but I was also concerned about its size, and by that I mean that it might be too small for me. The screen on the 9000 is also by far the single most impressive display that I have ever lay my eyes upon.
Is there anything you, or anyone else can say as to the 9700 being too small, or too something or other?
Thanks...

I played around with my buddy's 9700 today. I have to say that it kind of felt like a toy with it being so small and light. Didn't feel too bad with the silicon skin on it. Added a little grip and size to it.

I tried to love the 9700, but personally found it a little too small for my liking. Kinda like a curve on steroids. Feature wise between the 9000 and 9700, didn't find a big enough difference to justify dropping $650 (wasn't eligible for upgrade) on it. Back to the 9000 until the next bold comes out. Hopefully it will be a little bigger. The size thing really did bother me. Just my $.02

I'm in the same boat. Ill give it a few days before I make a decision. Its the damn browser that is making me think about going back to my iphone. I also don't like the way gmail is handled
Why is it that if I archive mail in my gmail inbox on the bb that the message still remains in my message folder. I don't get it.
