I agree, it is just a programming issue between them and RIM that needs ironing out. I wonder if this was the issue with technical acceptance for the device to begin with.

Ok so I just got off the phone with tech support and he went ahead and switched me to the BES plan and they will be crediting me back the difference until the get the issue fixed. I now have the white wifi logo. Its a know plan and they are working on it. I suggest calling tech support and tell them your problem and they should do the same thing for you that they did for me. He will be calling me back as soon as a fix is figured out.

I second that motion. VZW will handle it the right way.

Yeah but the only thing is that the knuckleheads that we talk to in "tech support" are really just the flextronics guys. They are not the ones that do any of the TA. Though they might hear rumors, but most of them hear the same rumors that we do.

This doesn't work for everyone, I did the process and I got the white wifi, but when it was actually tested I still couldn't get any website on the browser even with the white wifi icon, also in the wifi diagnostics the connecting box had a green check mark in it, as well as the wifi connection having a green check mark in it in the connection window. the wifi icon went white seconds after getting switched to BES. But that is all that happened It only went white. After all that happened I did a battery pull and when the phone came back on the wifi connected to my access point and stayed gray. I was still on the BES. Now that none of that worked, I am back on the BIS. I was also told by the VZ rep that there could be a small charge to the account depending on what was done on the phone using the BES. I then asked about them lower the price of the BES but what would be the point, the BES didn't fix the problem.

HaHa. That is funny but I can see that your phone is plugged into the home charger and you have the usb on the wifi.

This worked for me.

Update: what is weird is that, after having them put me back on BIS from the more expensive plan, it is still working. I have re registered, service books *228 etc and its still working. any thoughts on that?

I dont know what just happened. At 9:00 AM EST I look over at my new Storm2 on my desk and I have the white Wi-Fi icon now! I talked to Verizon support late last night and explained the $45 dollar package deal to the guy. He said he would resend service books. Nothing happened last night. Now all of the sudden this morning I have full working Wi-Fi. I can send and receive via bb messenger, email, browser. Total awesome.

Anyone else experiencing the spontaneous white Wi-Fi icon?
