Default What Was I Thinking?!!! Droid Doesn't... Storm II Does

Well, my techno-geek disease kicked in and when Verizon sent me a flier telling me that I had been selected for an early update I went hauling *** down to the local Verizon store. Looked at both the Storm II and the Droid and was impressed enough with the Droid to go for it. One week later and I have returned the Droid and now have a nicely updated Storm II. What a buggy POS the Droid turned out to be! If everybody thought the first Storm had issues they are nothing compared to the Droid! It's fast, I'll give it that... but it's fast at doing things that you don't necessarily want it to do and that bit about it being able to sync up to a Microsoft Exchange Server? Forget it if your company has any sort of decent security policies set! Like oh, the basics... PIN identification and remote data wipe. I spent over 7 hours talking to Verizon and Motorola tech support with no success. The Droid did have some cool features, the hardware was fast, and the screen was outstanding but it just had too many issues to stick it out. Went this morning and got a Storm II, plugged it into my computer and transferred all of my applications and settings over to it and bingo!.... work email and all of the familiar stuff back. It felt like putting on that favorite old sweatshirt. Comfortable and like home. What the heck was I thinking anyway?!!!

So the Droid is WORSE than the S1? Guess what? You just lost ALL credibility.

Well, not necessarily. Worse than S1 at release or worse than S1 with OS 5.0?

There is a marked difference....

I had the exact same experience with the droid. Wouldn't sync with server and very buggy. I found the battery a bit weak also. Happy with my S2!!

I found it to be very credible. I found the Android OS to be strange, for me. Now my son loved his G1, but I'm of the opinion that younger people can adjust to almost any new phone. I wanted a new, fly phone when I was with Tmo. Now the pickings were slim but the G1 seemed like it would be really functional and fun. I did not last 24 hrs. There's all this stuff to do sh*t, thatI don't need to do, but the stuff I need to do couldn't be done seemlessly. From my 1st BB (pearl 8130) to my S2, it was just plain old simple. And I don't mean that in any way except, positive. My phone is really important to me and I don't care about what we did before we had them. I don't go to around the corner without my phone, so it needs to work for me. I'm really new around here but, it seems you can't even have an opinion about a darn cell phone, it's like criticizing someone's kid's athletic ability. I LUV my S2. It's the ****.

I am on my original Storm 2. No problems. If I try to switch between apps one after another I will sometimes get a bit of a button lag on the menu/escape buttons but once I close out 2-3 of them it clears right up. I am immensely happy with my S2. Which is odd, considering I usually have really lousy luck with new purchases.

My only real gripe is that some of the apps (Vlingo, Quickpull, etc...) still need to be upgraded to work with the software/hardware without causing any glitches. But I don't really need those apps. They are just extra icing on the cake of awesomeness that is the Blackberry Storm 2.

Wink

For the record, I'm on #1. I got it on launch day. I have no problem taking things that I spend my hard earned cash on, back. I'm no corporation's fan either. I buy WTF I want/like. I don't pull my battery at all. And I pulled my curve battery and my 8900 batteries daily. Sometimes more than once a day. And I still liked my blackberries because of what they do for my lifestyle. If you're happy with your phone, unball your fists and be happy with your phone. My husband feels the same way about his S2, we're planning on renewing our vows on 10/28/10, to our S2's and each other. HAHAHAHAHAHA

Folks,

How many times am I going to have to deliver this message?? Attack the phones, attack the companies, I don't care, but do NOT attack each other! I had to remove several posts from this thread. Also people, the language filter is there for a reason, please don't evade it! I edited several posts too. Remember......

...... from our Posting Rules & Guidelines.....

Post in the Right Forum
We’ve done our best to layout the forum categories so they are logical and make sense. When you are creating a new thread, do your best to get it in the right category. We want these forums to be value added and educational. The General CrackBerry Discussion and General RIM/BlackBerry Discussion are good places to post if you have a serious question but are not quite sure where to put it. These forums are less stringently moderated, while specific forums (BlackBerry 8700 Series for example) are more strictly moderated to maintain their quality and usefulness.

And of course, we also have the Off-Topic Discussion forum. This is the place on the site to have fun and talk about whatever. From sports to the weather to what to buy your girlfriend for her birthday (buying her a new blackberry is always a good thing), anything goes in here. Just remember to keep it clean, keep it productive and keep it legal!

Make Meaningful Posts
While CrackBerry.com is geared as much towards entertaining and connecting the Crackberry community as it is to helping solve problems and staying on top of news and rumors, all posts made within the site should be value added and on topic to the thread (even in the free for all). Hijacking a thread off-topic is a big No-No, and posts made for no reason other than to increase post count will be wiped from the site.

Personal Attacks
Do not flame, insult or post personal attacks against other users. Be courteous, not rude. Any instances or reports of harassment of members will be treated seriously. CrackBerry.com has a zero tolerance policy against this kind of behavior, which may result with an immediate temporary or permanent ban at moderators' discretion. CrackBerry.com is a friendly place - treat members with respect at all times. If you don't have something nice to say, do not say it!

Reporting a bad post
There is a "Report bad post" button on the top right side of each post (red/white triangle) or you can send a PM to a moderator.

We now return you to your regularly schedule thread already in progress!

Wow! I didn't realize that people would react to my post that strongly, I was just trying to share my experience with the Droid. I would have kept it had it been able to sync with my office's Exchange Server but it couldn't. The buggy OS I figured would get ironed out like the Storm 1. I just didn't have a very good experience with the device and it didn't meet one of my basic needs. Judging my credibility based on my sharing my experience with the device is just bad form... check the Droid forums mate and you'll see that it has quite a few issues, not the least of which is something that my BlackBerries have done very well which is handle all of my email needs, not just some. Bearkat38 are you just hanging around a BlackBerry forum to brag about how much better your phone is and badmouth others?

It's ok dude. We here at Crackberry understand. We got your back....

P.S. I came back to BB after trying an Android device. I'm sure it will work for a lot of people but when you just want to get something done, nothing beats a Blackberry. Can Iget an Amen?!
