Last year on Nov. 21, there were people outside of my verizon store at 5am, including myself, and it was snowing. This year, I didn't even go to the store until opening 9am, there were maybe 4 people waiting to get it, 2 of them just needed technical support for their current blackberry. I played with the one in the store. And have completely confirmed that after 4 years and 4 different model blackberries, I'm going droid. RIM is just too far behind when it comes to their OS. Only thing RIM has over other smartphones is the awesome way it does email. But that's about it. RIM needs to stick with qwerty devices. The Droid is going to blow this phone out of the water, and this is coming from a Blackberry fanboy for real.

Ordered online at 445am (EST)...one for me and one for the husband. Order was processed but didn't receive any shipping information besides the "should receive in 2 to 3 days". Weird...I got free overnight shipping.

Anyway, woke up at 9 to go to the Verizon store to play with the phone. Got there about 9:30. The only person playing with it or even concerned with it was Mandy (a rep). I got to play with it for a good 20-25 minutes and do a side by side comparison with the S1.

The S1 they had was very old software...and the S2 was running .320. I found the S2 slightly easier to type on than the S1 and it was much faster and responsive. I didn't have a problem at all with the weight. (purses are heavy...5oz isn't anywhere near what my purse weighs ) Other than that...the two are pretty much the same, but new is always better in my opinion...I like new stuff.

I was tempted to steal their demo device. But I'm in love and I can't wait to receive my order. I hope it arrives tomorrow, if not, Friday is good too.

P.S. I am not a previous S1 owner.

I got mine. Walked in at 9:00 and walked out at 9:10, phone in hand.

I never used a Storm 1, so I can't compare the two. The screen seems to be good. It will take some serious getting used to moving from a physical keyboard to a touchscreen.

The OS it's running is 5.0.0.320. Except while my IT perople were installing it on the BES, it has been very responsive.

I haven't done much with it yet--for some reason, I have to work.

I didn't even notice that I wasn't using a physical keyboard. It just felt really natural to me. I was typing like I type on my 8900.

Oh and I forgot to add that the screen on the demo is very sturdy like I would imagine a touchscreen to be. No jiggling or anything.

Sounds great so far! Why is the original Storm running on a higher OS though? 5.0.0.328

I am a previous Storm owner and I just upgraded to the Storm2. I have been updating my OS on the Storm all along and fell in love with the 5.0 software. As today came closer I started thinking if it was really worth it to upgrade. I understand the screen is different and there is wifi and more memory etc. I have had the Storm2 for a few hours now and let me just say - its like a completely different phone! Obviously the software is exactly the same but it feels so different. The screen is awesome and the phone runs great. The early indications are this phone is totally worth the hype!

If I recall correct Storm2 OS 5.0.0.327 leaked a few nights ago, check the CB front page blogs for the article, you might need to go back a few pages to find it.
