I only had a very quick play around with it - 10 mins at the most. The youtube vids will be able to give you a better idea of how well this phone functions more than I can.

Personally, I wouldnt buy it as its just an 'enhanced' version of the current Storm. When VF release 5.0 software (December 09 or Jan 10 at the latest) for the S1 it will almost be on par with the S2 sans wifi and dedicated app memory.

November doesn't look like a great month since they have to Bold 9700 coming out and RIMM doesnts like to release phones close together. They like to spread them out.

The screen remains the same. The typing is a lot more smoother and therefore accurate. Love the 'electronic' surepress.

My claims will be validated in a couple weeks so Im not going to try and convince people what to believe.

From this point on, I will only post in this thread if there are any further updates with the release date, spec info, pricing, etc. There will be no further attempts on my part to try and prove the validity of my statements.

Again, if anyone has any specific questions relating to the Vodafone release date, specs, pricing, etc. please feel free to list them in this thread or pm me and I will try my best to find out.

This is wierd. On Saturday I had gone to Verizon to get a new phone for my mom, and I asked the person working there if he knew when the Storm 2 was coming out, since he is the one that handles BlackBerry sales. He said that he was almost positive of it coming out the First QT of next year. Anywho, I sure hope it comes out ASAP. My Storm is becoming a but too "out dated" .

Update below:

Revised release date - October 19th

Issue - Problems with the radio, i.e. high call drop rate. Stipulation has been made that it has to be reduced to the same level as the S1 before its accepted.

Enterprise or consumer release first - they will both be released on the same day.

VF and VZW alignment - yes. The aim is that both VF and VZW will be releasing on the same day.

OS - Unkown. As previously mentioned, it is currently running .253 so it just depends on how many more drops are required to fix the issue.

If you have any more questions, please let me know and I will make a list and ask again next week as I dont really want to pester him continiously with questions.



I dont know if this has been covered before, but the Odin will have the same browser. The problem with the browser is that it is very unstable. On some occassions, webpages load extremely fast and on others it doesnt load at all. My contact has said that in previous versions, the browsing has been extremely fast consistently, so the potential is there to for a decent web browsing experience.

Edit - to all the VF customers, keep your ear to the ground about the new Vodafone 360 service. There should be a media announcment about it some time today. Very cool online service which will allow customer contacts, status updates and messaging services, integrated contacts, music, photos and mapping services to be shared with friends. It is also backed up and updated wirelessly on a regular basis.

Oh great--dropped calls is going to be an issue with this phone? My LG phone literally NEVER drops calls (I've had it longer than 2 and 1/2 years and used it in 7 states). Before that I had a Kyocera and Star Tac, both of which failed daily to receive calls. If the S2 drops calls I'll be one unhappy camper. Technology should be getting BETTER; not WORSE. WTH is wrong with manufacturers that they can't move the technology forward???

The reason the October 14th date has slipped is because he stipulated that he will not accept the S2 in its current form. Also keep in mind that I work with the directors of this company. For the record, I will say the release date is still in October. Im still waiting on a few more people to edit their posts before I provide the actual date, what the current issues are and the release date for the 9700.

P.S. when you say nothing is absolutely concrete, you are kidding right? If you have ever worked on a new product release you will know they always work with a concrete date in mind. If they didnt, there wouldnt be accountability and progress in the project. The dates are concrete, however, the outcomes arent.

I hope this is the last month i pay a TMo bill cause Im switchin'. 2 months ago i was waiting for the driftwood...3 weeks ago i ws undecided between the DW and S2....4 days ago Im salivating for the S2 and decided to switch. TMo sucks terribly in my area anyway and no 3G. i check this forum @ least 6-7 times a day for updates. Thanks to all who share what they can to keep guys like me trolling and counting the days.

Called Voda UK today and spoke to their sales dept.
I have a decent settlement from my insurance company for my Storm 1 after I dropped it and I asked the chap whether it was worth waiting for the Storm 2 before buying a new handset.
He said probably as it is due for release on October 20th.

So there we have it - October 20th for UK Voda.
