Piezo technology is Kevins theory behind the Storm 2 touchscreen. Again just a theory... I really don't know much about it so I'm not going to even try to explain it. If you listen to the latest podcast Kevin does a pretty good job explaining it.

Hmm... looking at that picture above, and assuming the piezo theory is actually true, what would be uber cool would be if clicking on the screen actually improved battery life. You compress a piezo material and you get an electric current... all you'd have to do is direct that generated power back to the battery. That would be nuts! The more you tap/use the screen the more power you'd theoretically generate.
OOO.. and from there...let's get super fancy. You know people always say there's a lot of "dead space" above the BlackBerry display..where the logo is? They should work a solar cell in there. Between piezo and the sun this baby would have a battery life of a week. Ahh.. to dream!

So by that rationale the S2 could double as a stress ball...and it charges while you squeeze!
Those guys at RIM are geniuses.

I have a feeling this isn't the case. A phone that charges itself based upon you pressing. So an avid texter would get more battery than an avid music and movie user.
Sounds too good to be true, really. Lol. I can't wait!!

I'm sold.
Just need to make a game too that involves a lot of clicking. If someone says put that away, I will be like "got to keep the battery alive, expecting an important call."

I told everyone it is the same, but different. The input method that is. The S2 will be, by far IMHO, be the best touch device in regards to input method, on the market. Hands down. Yes the UI isn't as flashy as other touch device, but S2 is damn good. More mem, both for applications and 2GB for media etc(sd not included), wifi, slimmer design, and better input method. As I have said before if you're a fan of S1, this is a must have device.

| | Durability
What about durability - do you folks in the know think it will have the same durability and scratch resistance as the current glass screen?
I suppose this would be a good description of the technology: Piezoelectric — Switched
