Default Latest Official OS: 9520 5.0.0.973 - "NoDRM" from Taiwan Mobile

Finally a NoDRM version of .973 :

Download the Storm2 9520 Official OS 5.0.0.973 from Taiwan Mobile - NoDrm

BlackBerry Handheld Software v5.0.0.1611 (EastAsia)

Package Version: 5.0.0.1611
Consisting of:
Applications: 5.0.0.973
Software Platform: 4.2.0.423
File name: 9520_omanodrmjEastAsia_PBr5.0.0_rel1611_PL4.2.0.42 3_A5.0.0.973_Taiwan_Mobile.exe
File size: 138.53MB

Some early impressions:
1. Seems quite fast overall
2. Noticed Address book & BBM contacts scrolling quick as compared to .741

Though battery life on the .741 was good, hoping for some improvement.

Please post your findings!

Downloading now. Man this is a long time coming. Somehow I think this is the last of the OS5 upgrades.

Please keep us updated! I'm hesitating because my phone is running perfect on .741, great battery life and really snappy. And they say if it ain't broken, don't fix it... so yeah.

You just need to replace 1 cod file to fix this. Takes about 20 secs, with no need to re-install the entire operating system again.

Just use BBSAK to install the cod. (I think it is from build 979)

So, I can use the .cod from a 9700 .979, or will it need to be a "Storm" .cod?

.979 should be fine. That is how hybrids are made, from cods of different BB handsets.

Battery life is definitely improved now.. it was good with .741 but now its even better. The signal reception is much better coz am having 3-4 bars now in a 1-2 bars area.
And more over this could be last one for 9520. (or .983 or .999 ?).

No luck with this build - poor battery life, SMS typing lag and slow browser for me.

After 1.5 days up and running and now charging my battery for the first time again, it seems that battery life improved indeed. And memory increased about 2 MB.

-No robotic voice bugs
-No SMS or any typing issues
-Plays all of my music
-Had no loading onto phone issues, like contacts not restoring properly etc.
-The bottom buttons (delete, view, call vm, scroll up/down) in the phone app (call log) stay there after switching to dialing pad or contacts and back. With previous builds, they disappeared and only came back after a battery pull.

-Bedside mode clock bug is there, but I don't bother since I have enough money for a separate alarm clock, even for traveling.

So far, it's a keeper for me.
