Default Just got my Storm 2 for $80, and you can too!

So I was ready to switch networks because ATT is not so great in my area, and decided to go back to VZW. I've done my research on the proper device, and it was between the Droid or S2. Being a BB loyalist, I decided on the S2, even though I didn't like the unlocked S1 I'd had for a while last year. Thankfully, it seems they have fixed most everything that I disliked about the S1 (but what happened to the browser speed?), and I'm happy with the device so far.

Anyway, on to to the subject. I'd done my price research and found Best Buy had the best price on the phone, so I went there to buy it. While signing up I told the associate about Wal-Mart offering a $100 gift card with select BB purchases and asked her if they would honor that promotion. She said no, so I asked her to check with the manager. The manager came over and said they couldn't give me a gift card and apologized. So with nothing to lose I asked if they could just take $100 off the price of the phone. He didn't hesitate, he didn't flich, he didn't bat an eye, and said "yes".

Folks, I just about fell out of my chair. So I managed to get the Storm 2 for $80, then be able to get the charging pod, holster, car charger, and screen protector, all for less than the phone was originally going to cost.

If you're thinking of getting this device but are on the fence because of price, I highly recommend trying this tactic.

The cost of a Storm2 isn't an issue for me. It's the constant battery pulls, failure to ring, failure of the voice apps to work consistently...be careful what you wish for when buying a Storm...

Sorry to hear about the problems that you are having withe your storm2 did you try to take it back to get another one.I'm loving my storm2 with no problem I can't remember the last time I did a battery,no rings problems and the voice app is working fine also.So in other words the storm2 rocks for me and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks so.

It is either app incompatibility with OS 5.0 or operator error. Not all apps that were written in a 4.7 development environment work with 5.0 as they were intended to. I have done one battery pull since I bought the phone and never has it not ring. I don't do constant resets either. The only thing that I have found that to be good for is killing the battery. BTW I got mine on release day.

I had none of those issues Dave. My only complaint is the button issue but mine is not bad enough to cause me to return it. May memory is rock solid never have to reboot and my ring is fine. I would have tried a reinstall of the OS and a return.

Easy! I too really felt disapointed with RIM owning a 9530 and now a 9550. I even got a free s2 because of being on my 11th storm! Now being on my 4th s2 I have found the best working device! I just keep waiting for open GI and ill be very happy with RIM in a few months. I really believe RIM will answer to the lack of consumer appeal and everyone will be happy.

The storm2 is way better than my storm1 was. Not even a close comparison. Haven't done a battery pull yet. I got my s2 at walmart for $149 because I upgraded a line with a two year contract. They gave me a $100 gift card. I then sold my s1 for $150. So, it's like I got paid $100 for a new device. Not bad...

Something was not right with your device. I haven't had any memory problems, rings when a call comes in, voice dialing works as expected both with the speaker and BT. It's never reset randomly nor have I had to pull the battery for any reason except for testing.

The sticky buttons are the only annoyance and that happens so infrequently that I don't really see it as an issue.

Congrats, you will be much happier on VZW's network. But carriers will do anything to steal competitor subscribers as it is the only way to grow revenue in a saturated market.

The point of my post was simply to point out people don't need to post the same old complaints time and time again.

If someone post something to the effect of, I found a cool new app for the Storm that does XYZ. Someone will jump in and say "The Storm sucks." What does that have to do with the OP?

I have owned the iPhone, and my wife owned the Moto Droid and both went back because they didn't work for us. I have yet to go onto some Droid forum and post how much we hated that phone. It just didn't work for what we wanted it to do.

Anyway, we should all just use the phone we like and not knock a phone someone else loves because it did not work for you.
