Default BIS connection via WIFI problem - SIM Unlock HELP!! -NEED VW SERVICE BOOKS

Ok, I have read the other two threads about this and neither seem to have a sure answer. My situatuion is a bit diffrent as I am out of the US and do not have data service.

Problem: Can no longer access BIS via Wifi. Grey logo!

Storm 9550 Verizon
$64 Global Data plan (although I am in an area of Afghanistan with no Data service)

Phone was set up in the US and then shipped to me.

When the phone arrived our IT people set it up on Wifi and I had a connection to BIS (white logo). My AOL email worked great for 24 hours.

I conducted a SIM unlock. Then somtime after that I lost the BIS connection (Grey Logo). I sill have a Wifi connection and can browse the internet.

The phone still works and I have the verizon sim card in. The browser still works via Wifi. After the security wipe I cant even find the email set up and applications dont work as they will not access BIS

I have tried the following:

Security Wipe

Battery Pull (included putting battery in without SIM card, as some users of 9520's in GSM areas suggested this)

Checked Service Books, the two that are needed are present.
I can't have service books resent because I cant access the email set up. (I have no data service)

Upgraded software via Destop Manger

I attmepted to access the BB Verzon BIS site via my computer. I get an error message saying it can not be reached via HTML to use the handset.

UPDATE
Ok, made the call to Global Service. The guy was very knowledgeable and helpful but not good enough to fix the problem. We determined that I had already done everything they could suggest.

He also stated that the Wifi was a grey area they did not support and they could only guarantee access to BIS via the data service!

ANY IDEAS????? It will be 30 days before I am back in the US and I sure would like my email to work via Wifi.

No but I may at some point. Granted, Global Service is usualy better than the standard Customer service but I think I would rather drop an anvil on my head. Due to using VOIP over a poor connection, calls to any type of service are difficult here.

My last call to them was to unlock my Samsung Saga. They got it done but it took over an hour on the phone.

Call global again and politely but firmly ask them to escalate the call to RIM, they should be able to help you but unless you can get Verizon to transfer you its a paid support call, but of vzw transfers you there is no charge.

The gray logo was an issue when it was first released and the only fix at first was to have them put your account on BES so I wonder if the Global Data plan doesnt have the correct service books. You might ask for Tech support and ask them if its a service book issue.

On the phone with RIM, no luck. Seems they cannot walk me through the fix due to missing service booked. I have the Browser and Configure books. I had others (don't recall which ones) before the security wipe. I did not back it up. They cant send new service books because I do not have data service in my area. Looks like I will have to wait untill I am in the 1st world.

They still have no idea while it stopped working in the first place.

Can anyone email or post the Verizon Wireless Service books? After the security swipe I only had two left. From my call to RIM they indicated I may have lost some? I can't have them resent because I am not in a data area.

FIXED!! I put the BB on a helicopter and had it flown to a service area. Then had the service books resent and its working. It is back in a non data service area now and still working off of wifi.
