Tmobile has 3 colors, black, white, and light blue. AFAIK all current us carriers require a data package for the life of either the contract or the entire time you have the device. If you can afford it keep the data package, I used to have an 8100 without data and now I wouldn't use any smart phone without data. I know tmobile was offering to allow you to use a blackberry with an unlimited text package, but I'm not sure if that offer is still available.
As far as pricing goes shop around. When I got mine tmobile was selling it at 150 (iirc) and I got mine from Best Buy for 30. Best Buy is able to sell the phones cheaper for some reason. Unless you are not buying the phone under contract.
