Default No CDMA 3G Rev A??

I was thinking of getting the Curve for a second line... But the low resolution display, no Rev. A 3G, 2MP no flash is really steering me away from this Device.... Then again at $99 I guess it's not bad. A bit surprised about no Rev. A EVDO though...

I agree... had to see it on VZW's site to believe no Rev. A. It is still a little appealing to me over my current 8330 just because of the Wi-Fi, plus the trackpad's are a pleasure to use over the trackball. I am torn also, but yeah, the price is amazing.

A big + though is it would be a great Berry for a starter, or an older person... Decent memory, OS 5 seems easier to use than the OS 4...

I just wished that they would have at least slapped a higher rez screen in it...

I don't see it as a starter device. It just fills a different niche. Its obviously geared toward the consumer rather than the businessman (the media keys make that apparent), though just like its predecessor, the 8330, I suspect it would make a very capable business device.

I've used the 8330 and now the 9550 and love both devices. I doubt the 8530 will disappoint anyone who buys one, of they understand what/who it was designed for.

I was impressed after viewing the specs and would love to play with one myself. It would make a great backup for my S2.

You know I REALLY liked the 8330 for the few weeks I had it. Then I went to the Storm 1 and was in love with that even more... But I will always have a special place for the 8330. It's still a damn good phone. Now having the Storm2 I could never go back though.

EVDO data currently has Rev. 0 - which is the original, and Rev. A - which is much faster. This means much faster data, better streaming capabilities. And if you plan on using the phone as a modem Rev. A is MUCH MUCH MUCH faster. Making this phone not something a business person or power user would want. This is why Me, reviews, and others on the forum have categorized this phone as an entry level device.

EVDO has other revisions but as of now they were never implemented due to hardware upgrades the networks would need and it would cost a lot making it not worth it with LTE 4G currently being deployed.

I agree it's probably not for a power user, but for a business person I think it will do just fine. The REVA is important to me,but I know several very high up business people that use the older Curve, and they seem to be making it just fine.

Unless you need it today why not wait for the Tour 2? It will have Rev A, 3.2MB with Flash, WIFI and Track Pad.

For me it would be fine as a business user. My IT policy is so strict that all I can do is send and received BES emails. No SMS, No MMS. Only BBM and any website I would be interested in going to is blocked also.
