Either one of their "ninjas" or, what I suspect to be more likely, that RIM hands them out to get the hype up

I was wondering which carrier was getting this as well. Hopefully like the 8300's it'll go to all carriers. Is this in addition to the 8900?

Kevin stated in the review that it is a lower-end BlackBerry and it is in between the 8300 series and the 8900. 8900 being the superior phone.

The Bold is MUCH better than this (My Opinion)
But that doesn't mean this phone is bad , though a blackberry without a trackball feels like a face without a nose :P

All of the other BBs currently offered are better than this. This looks to be an inexpensive entry level BB (prepaid likely). I think RIM should stop releasing a ton of different phones and put more R&D into the software.
