Default Will the Niagara be faster than the Storm?

I read that they have the same processor so I wondering and hoping that the 9630 will be quicker than the Storm. My two biggest complaints with the Storm are that 1. I can't type worth sh*t on it and have to constantly backspace and retype (maybe it's my large hands) and 2. I constantly get the hourglass busy icon thing when using different apps or switching apps even with over 40 MB free memory. BBs are meant to be quick and the Storm isn't.

Well, the device software you have on the Storm isn't the greatest. The newer SW, is much better. I would say they are close, with the 9630 edging out the Storm.

I believe I've read that its been confirmed that it will be faster, and snappier than the Storm OS. But I'm not entirely sure, as the Storm is slow because the OS isnt all that stable.

The fact that the Os is touch on the storm accounts for some of your typing speed issues and the fact that the OS isn't as stable as it could be. The 9630 is a very quick device but as I said in another post.. its RIM's bread n butter.. a fully qwerty keyboard CDMA device?? They could build it in their sleep and still be faster then the storm is currently.

Most of the overall speed of the device is dependent of the architecture of the processor and how it's utilized. The Storm although modified to work with touch, it ultimately more complicated than say the 9000, or 9630. Especially when writing the code. As Blackmannx stated, RIM can build full physical QWERTY devices in it's sleep. Remember the 9630 is CDMA's version of the Bold, so yes it's going to be the quickest out of the CDMA bunch.

If you watch the video from that kid on YouTube, the 9630 is absolutely FLYING! It is just looking so smooth and fast that I was salivating. Can't wait

I also read that the 9630 and storm will have the same processor but I think that the niagara will be quicker than the storm. It will be the same design RIM has been working with for forever so I think RIM will have a better OS ironed out for it

I think part of the lag on the Storm is the acceleromoter and surepress technology. With both of those things not present in the 9630, it should respond quicker.

This is disheartening, if the OS is exactly the same as the Storm. I been waiting for this phone to be released patiently.

All I know is if the niagara behaves similar to the storm I won't buy it. I don't care how great it looks but if I can't use the phone seemlessly than whats the purpose of having it except to look pretty?

the only conclusion I can reach from your post is that you really don't know how technology works.

The 9630 is a device like the Bold, 8900, Curves, etc. And we all know how well those devices work. The Storm is/was something new. The 9630 will not have the problems of the Storm.
