Default What should I do?

Ok, I signed up for Verizon back in Feb(Got the Omnia, my first smart phone, big mistake) and I was wondering how to go about get the tour, spending the least amount of money. I called Verizon and the woman was an ***** to say the least. Your help and input is much appreciated.

Can you buy out of the contract? Maybe it wouldn't be as much as paying retail for the phone. I pulled the service agreement that I printed on my blackberry order and it says " under this agreement an early termination fee will apply if you choose to end your service before becoming a month -to-month customer, OR if we terminate it early for GOOD CAUSE. For service activated on or after 11/16/06, the early termination fee is $175 per wireless phone number.

So it sounds like you could pay the $199 plus the $175 fee and have yourself a BB Tour

That termination fee of $175 the max fee? because if you have not even been on contract for 1 year yet, the fee might be higher then 175.

$10 a month to add a line may be cheaper then your ealry termination fee. That or keep calling customer service until someone takes pity on you. I do agree that you are in a contract and are probably stuck for a while.

I've done the add a line then terminate, and the phone still costs less than paying full retail. BTW, I'm a Daddy of 4 boys, too!

cancel your line and sign back up as a new customer- $175 + $199 = cheaper than $489. Plus they will deduct like $5 off your cancel fee for every month you've been under contract so far. They told me doing this would cause me to lose my number just so you know.

Or you can add another line for the $10/month...

Call and ask if you can get the 1-yr pricing on the Tour. Thats what I did, and they agreed...I've been under contract since 11/08

I don't know if you add a line to get the Tour that's a 2yr contract which would be $240 by the end of the contract plus all the taxes for the line.

I believe if you add the Tour to the new line, switch lines, then cancel the new line within 30 days, they will charge you full MSRP for the Tour if you don't give it back.

I think ETF is your best option but I think you will lose your #

On a side note. I almost upgraded to the Omnia in May, but knowing it was a WinMo phone I decided to wait it out. I'm glad I did.

Sold a PS3 I don't even use anymore to put it towards the full retail price. Can't wait to put my Storm on Craigslist too.

I understand you want the Tour but you agreed to a contract and no one made you buy the omnia. What do you want the VZW customer service rep to do? They aren't going to give you a free phone... You are going to have pay full retail. Just try to sell your omnia and get whatever you can to help recover some of the cash.
Now if you had a storm it might be a different story considering what an abomination that phone is.

and a possile $35 activation fee. Not sure if their still waiving that with online purchases. I have been told if you cancel your line there is a possibility of getting your old number back too.

not much you can do. I was thinking about buying tour on ebay, then I realized that would be a horrible idea because then there would be no warranty. A warranty is a necessity with these phones I've decided after owning the storm.
