Talking I HATE people that come on the forums and do nothing but complain but Im gonna!

I already have a bad taste in my mouth about VZW... I placed my pre order Tour on 7/2 and am being charged an activation fee, I was told by the less-than-knowledgeable Verizon-chat guy that as a new customer I would not be charged one. Well, I was. Now I go to the web site and they are offering FREE activation with any order. So I talk to ANOTHER less-than-knowledgeable Verizon-chat guy and he tells me if I want the activation waived I need to call customer service and have them CANCEL the initial order than RE ORDER the PRE ORDER (yea...) so the activation is free. They are unable to waive the fee. So I call good ole' customer service and am told I can not even CANCEL my pre order and that I would have to wait until the phone ships, my credit card is charged, the account is set up, refuse the Fedex delivery, call to cancel my account, wait for them to credit the charges back to my Discover card and THEN order it. Of course, hoping that at this time they are still offering free activation. OY VEY!

However, the CSR did tell me that once I recieve the phone, I could basically call back customer service and complain and they *might* waive activation.

Oh and something else that was funny that she said- "Your phone is being shipped this Thursday so when Fedex delivers your phone Friday you would need to deny the package" I asked her 3 times, "so my phone is being shipped Thursday?" to which she replied "Yes, you will have it by Friday"

Gotta love companies with consitent info!

I can already tell I shoulda just gone with the Sprint version of the Tour.

Don't go through all of that. When you get your phone call back and talk to customer service again. Tell them when you ordered they promised you free activation. They are very good about credits and I have never had a problem. Should be OK.

I agree. I've even had them give me an instant credit rather than waiting for a mail-in rebate to show up.

Ive never had a problem with them correcting an activation fee after the fact. They are generally good about fixing your bill.

And people complain about Sprints CS. It sure looks like Verizon can be just as bad.

You do know--

When you're offered free activation, each line receives a $35 activation fee and are then credited $35 later in the bill, right? That's how it works for people on corp accounts that have free activation and thats how it appeared on my friends first bill.

They can't just omit it from the bill.

My guess is thats when they're going to be charging accounts/cards?...I still don't have the charge on my Visa from the transaction on June 30.

Or they're really going to start shipping devices then lol. Theres nothing that says they can't ship preorders since you've technically already paid for it.

Cool beans. I will do as others said and just call when it gets here

Yea, she did say it was shipping on Thursday, which was odd. At this point I dont expect it earlier than the 14th though.

I just hope I made the right decision going with Verizon over Sprint.. I was told Verizon has the best service by all my friends who have it. I currently have a Bold with ATT and my service is sub par at best. Hoping Verizon is the way to go but Sprint is easier on the pocketbook.

We'll see
